Ya, ok. Keep drinking the Pats front office kool-aid. I'm sure the pats front office's moles will leak out that this year's draft "sucks" too to cover their arses when they draft more DUDS. Funny, but didn't Jacksonville draft Jones-Drew in the 4th rd last year? How come they can get a running back that is every bit as good as Maroney in the 4th rd??????? How come the Colts have 12 rookies on their roster from this past draft???? Is our roster that much better than the Colts that 12 rookies can make their squad but 4th rd picks can't make our's?????? Puhleaze. Pioli is a master at trading for vets, signing free agents, and choosing who and who not to spend money on for players entering free agency from our team. His drafting college players has been a mixed bag to say the least. Bethel Johnson, Marquisse Hill, and Chad Jackson all say hello from the 2nd rd.
Upi are the expert...there are always second guessers everywhere..if you are SOOO smart...get a job with an NFL team then..Ahh I see...just a troll that really knows nothing..GET LOST!!!

Jones-Drew was a 2nd round pick.

1. Our roster is better than the Colts roster.
2. They had serious cap restraints, so they HAD TO SIGN CHEAP ROOKies
3. The majority of the rookies who made the Colts are defensive playuers. The Colts defensive system is easy to learn. See the correlation?
4. The Colts had many holes to fill in their roster.

You know nothing about the rest of the NFL.

So Rashad Baker, Eddie Jackson, Kyle Eckel, and Chad Brown make less money than 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th rd pick? Puhleaze. The Colts defense is easy to learn? Funny, but how come Randall Gay learned our defense his rookie year as an undrafted free agent? How come Asante Samuel learned our defense his rookie season as a 4th rd pick? Excuses, excuses, excuses. The last two drafts have been terrible.

Uh hello, any body home? It's that rookie learning curve I was talking about earlier. It's different with every rookie. Some things take time, understand?

Funny, but how come everyone was an EXPERT when Bobby Grier was here and everyone second guessed him?? It's not ok to second guess BB and Pioli because they have won super bowls?? Last time I checked we haven't won any super bowls the last 2 years. Should the Dolphins fans NEVER have questioned Shula throughout the late 70's, 80's, and early 90's because he WON super bowls back in the early 70's? Puhleaze. The last two drafts have been terrible. This suppossed GREAT DEPTH that we have wasn't good enough to win jack squat the last 2 years. We have had minimal injuries this year(knock on wood). Let's see how GREAT this depth truly is if Asante Samuel, god forbid, goes down and we have to try and get by without him. Let's see how GREAT this depth truly is if we lose another linebacker. Our depth is vastly OVERRATED and it was evident sunday night when Rashad Baker and Eddie Jackson were getting toasted because Hobbs was out of the game. If you don't think all these wasted draft picks the last two years could've helped, than you are fooling yourself.

The past two seasons we've had some young players still learning the system.

Now name me one team as deep as the Patriots this year. Next, name me one team as good as the Patriots this year.

I'm still not ready to say we are a slam dunk for the super bowl. I'll tell you this. Dallas can hang points on us. Their defense is suspect so I still give the edge to the Pats, but Romo and that cast can put up points and give us all we want in the super bowl. I know, I know, we beat them by 21 points, yada, yada, yada. Trust me, you heard it here first, Dallas will make us sweat big time in the super bowl. It will be a close game. I also think Indy will give us a run for our money in the AFC title game if they get there. They have the receivers and running game to keep the clock ticking and play ball control to keep our offense on the sideline. Their defense is also formidable enough to not let our offense have it's way. I know it's not the language the homers want to here, but I am just calling it like I see it. Our team had better get Maroney to take his heels off and give us production and we had better find a way to stay healthy, especially guys like Samuel, Harrison, Thomas, Vrabel, Wilfork, Moss, Light, and Brady.

Dude, I'm with you on Dallas. That is one team I fear. They can score points on ANYONE. It's no surprise they put 27 points up on us. They are a very legit NFC team. The Colts can also hang with anyone any year.

However, what we have proved is that the Pats are as deep as any team this year. Is there room for improvement? Yes - there always is. That's the nature of salary cap football.

At some time, McDaniels and Pees need to let Maroney and Meriweather play more. But there is no question about either one of those players' talent.

Folks, if we could, please let's calm down the personal namecalling ("Dolts", "Clueless Crowd", etc.) and blast each others points instead of their fandom.

I thought it was obvious that everybody develops in different ways. I think in order to actually *know* that Meriwhether is a bust we'd have to have more time. How many rookies are going to crack the Patriots' rotation? Experience does count.

Now if he can't get on the field next year ..... buh bye .... don't let the door hit you on the ass.

Is there a question about coachability on Maroney's part? I seem to think that they want somebody to pound the ball a little more and Maroney seems stuck in the past in a college mindset.

Sorry, but there is a reason why Sammy Morris supplanted Laurence as the lead back. There's a reason why Laurence stood on the sideline while Kyle Eckel took his job against the Bills. There's a reason why he got diapers in his locker. Just watch the way he runs and tell me if you honestly associate with the term "tough runner". Do you think he's Marion Barber tough? Do you think he's Sammy Morris or Corey Dillon tough?

There are as many questions to Maroney's running style as there are concerning the coaching staff's adjustment to Maroney.

but you still keep making up crap as if you're the team priest and know everything. In every case where there has been any real evidence one way or the other,

Deus, speaking of Danny "making up crap" what do you think the diapers in the locker meant? Do you see any connection after he lost his role to Sammy Morris, stood on the sideline while Kyle Eckel took his job in Buffalo, denied his coach's claim that he was hurt, and proclaimed to want to keep his present running style?

Diapers, standing around, and hanging onto his old running style. Hmmmm.

Does Maroney remind you of a "tough runner" like Marion Barber or Sammy Morris or Corey?

his running style is same as Larry Johnson, Adrian Peterson , McFadden..upright.

It might just be that Maroney is more suited to be a #2 RB. Kind of like what they have in Seattle with Alexander as #1 and Maurice Morris as #2. The Pats just need to get that tough #1 back and they'll have a fine running duo. I nominate McFadden.

I don't even know what you really just said.

Let's get realistic though: It's incumbent upon Laurence to change his style, not the other way around.

There was the one play where he went away from his blockers so much that he got buried while his entire OL stood around shaking their heads wondering where he was. He went someplace else. That's his style. You figure it out. He's not Barry Sanders. The team values a hard hitting style that is dependable and doesn't try to hit a home run with every swing.

But Laurence has no home runs any way. He's not Barry Sanders. Nobody is going to change our entire blocking schemes for this kid.

I nominate McFadden

You guys will be screaming "bust" again when McFadden doesn't rush for 100 yards by his first 8 games.

FrontSeven, are you happy with McDaniels calling running plays up the middle with a speed back 99% of the time?

Speed back?????? Long run of 19 yards is a speed back? Puhleaze. The kid is a JAG(aka Just Another Guy). If he was a "special" player he would have shown us SOMETHING by now. I love how everyone points to the Cincy game last year. Guess what? Lots of guys have looked good in 1 or 2 games in their career. Glass is what he is folks. Those of you waiting for him to "emerge" should stop wasting your time. The guy will never be more than a 12-15 carry a game guy. That, my friends, is NOT what you want when you use the #21 pick in the draft to select.

Forget 100 yards, McFadden will have at least one 200 yard rushing game in that time frame to go along with his 100 yard games.

To say there is nothing wrong with Maroney, Meriweather and Jackson at this point is laughable.

There is PLENTY of evidence to question any one of them at this point.

Some posters claim the things nsa and I say are insane. Saying everything is a ok with Meri , Maroney and Jackson is insane.

Ummm, do me a favor. Find me the post that I said Meriweather was a "BUST". That's right, you can't because I NEVER said it! I said Maroney is a BUST and he is. Meriweather is definitely a dissapointment thus far, but I'm willing to wait until next season before I go as far as saying he is a BUSt. Defensive back is different than running back, where you can see FLAT OUT STUDS like Adrian Peterson come into this league and DOMINATE from the start. DUDS like Maroney hang their hat on a YPC stat that is skewed because he plays behind the greatest passing attack of all time and NEVER sees 8 men in the box like the LT's, Larry Johnson's, and Adrian Peterson's see all the time.
