The fact we only really have maybe 2 players with “star” potential, Drake and Gonzo, makes it hard to care about who’s on the team come next season. We have to look at them as a whole really, holes (pun intended) included. Those 2 plus Barmore to an extent are the stars and should be built around and everyone else is expendable.

I’m not used to feeling this way, but at this moment, I am really struggling to find 5 current players that I really feel strongly/care if their on the team next year. It’s probably the overall performance of the team darkening my thoughts in individual players. All I can really think of right now as player I want to build around are Maye, Barmore and Gonzalez. Maybe Onwenu and K. White. Am I missing anybody.
Aside from those guys I'd say peppers, Marcus Jones for STs, as he is a elite return specialist. This roster as we all know is a collection of practice squad players and back ups in the NFL.

Feels like we need an entire roster of players.. realistically probably more like 7 to 8 players of impact I'm talking real playmakers. Game changers at WR.. get Higgins and another guy... TEs are fine.. the obvious needs LT&RT. LB, DE, DT,CB.

Dugger and peppers will be fine at safety at least throughout next season. CB a veteran like Charvious ward is a huge upgrade across from gonzo.

Watching McConkey play football and thinking about the what ifs makes me want to f***in vomit
Mconkey is a excellent rookie slot WR.. also Baltimores secondary is also like last in the league or wait is it ours?

You want to pass up on the next Mike Evans in the draft? For “battle of wounded knee” Tee Higgins?
Need Higgins and still draft a guy.. need to find a 6'4 WR In the draft who can come in and play right away. Higgins on one leg is better than anything we have right now.

Don’t forget about C with old man andrews. I agree with everything else. Maybe Higgins not so much due to injuries but he would definitely be an upgrade if healthy. Who knows, he could come here and never get injured again and ball or could flop like jonnu and poopoo **** poopster…then he’d be released and go to the chiefs of course. Or maybe they’d just give him to kc with nothing in return all buddy buddy like.

I'd take tree top catch Higgins on one leg over what we have right now. He's in this offense is an immediate impact WR. His catch radius is just sick. Stranger will be playing C next season

Would be nice. But the next Mike Evans won’t mean s**t if Maye is in a wheelchair eating his supper through a straw. But I’m fine wit a Hunter or McMillan if we somehow find a LT in free agency. I just don’t see that though

Sign Higgins
Draft Campbell or Banks
Draft Pat Bryant (6’3 200 lb WR Illinois)
- dude will be a stud in the league

I missed this thread in September. Oh, well.

Lack of top end talent and deficiencies at key areas impact the rest. We have some wr’s who are decent #3 or 4 options who id be happy to keep around but they are playing above what they need to be. On OL and defense you have several backup caliber players forced to being starters. In some cases it is practice squad level players being key backups or even starters. Getting healthy solves some of the problems but theres still a few areas needing immediate attention.

Then the trickle down effect of having a putrid ol is effecting rham and gibson who im still high on. If maye looks like this with the worst OL in the league imagine if he had one thats even average. A putrid pass rush leaves an average secondary at best hanging out to dry unless you blitz which good qbs pick apart.

Address the starting OL, dl depth, and add a legit impact player at wr , edge, cb2, and those intermediate players look much better. this will likely take multiple offseasons though if you go for quality over quantity which we should unless we really luck out with an incredible fa class. Barmore, Strange, andrews , Bentley, peppers successfully returning would help alot.

A lot of considerations have to be weighed in thinking of who to 'have around' next year. Obviously so many upgrades are needed that players who fall into the 'serviceable at their price point' category have to be viewed as acceptable for next year.

Maye, Barmore and Gonzalez aren't just keepers, as others have said they are building blocks. As for guys worth having next year there are a handful more and given all the areas of serious weakness that need immediate addressing for next year there are certainly players on the roster who are adequate. At least to the point where their servicability means they don't require immediate replacement. Bourne, Henry, Stevenson, Gibson (based on a combo of Maye's comfort level, talent and contract), Onwenu, Andrews, Bentley and Wise (all only if healthy), Godchaux (a keeper playing with Barmore and Wise) and Marcus Jones (provded he's used inside & in rotation). Peppers is a tough call for outside reasons but on the field if his situation plays out in a favorable manner he's a keeper. Hooper seems to be on Maye's radar but his deal is up and what other teams offer could make him cost prohibitive. Schooler is a stud on ST and the kickers aren't horrific. Given all the other holes that need addressing while they're not formidable their contracts/performance make them acceptable to bring back.

The difficulty in assessing the WR's given how bad the O-Line is (hell the entire offense really) makes it tough to judge who besides Bourne is worth keeping. At @ $1M per for the next 2 Douglas is probably sticking and as a 4 or 5 he wouldn't be a waste of a roster spot.

Am I excited by the players listed? Not particularly. The cupboard is pretty bare but it isn't completely empty. Again, a functional O-line would immeasurably improve the outlook and it has to be the priority for Maye's sake.

100% accurate! The lack of any game changers on offense exposes all the other guys. KB, Boutte, pop, are all decent players but not game changers. Getting the guys on the outside will allow those players to win match ups! Some key guys retuning and adding DL, CB and LB help will make a tremendous difference. They need to do anything they can to add demon pass rushers off the edge

Agreed, we havent had the ‘horses’ on offense since gronk left and jules i guess can fit that category just because of how good he was in the postseason. These days you need the qb and a legit playmaker, hopefully we have the qb!

Defensively you have barmore , gonzo, and hopefully white. I truly think you add a legit edge rusher which allows white to slide inside it will get our pass rush where it needs to be. Build up the secondary around gonzo

Absolutely agree!!! Jules was such a big game performer and had the tenacity to play bigger than he was. I really feel like Higgins and another 6'4 target in the outside these this offense to top 10 scoring capabilities. Drake without question I believe is the guy.. he makes something out of nothing each game.. like that 4th down pass to Hooper. Defense yes Barmore, white and gonzo are the pieces. I like ward in SF opp gonzo.

Also. Alim McNeil in Detroit at DT and demarcus Lawrence in Dallas adding them makes this front down right Nasty.

Also looks like a good draft for dt/edge/cb. We should be able to get at least a handful of real quality additions and address the areas that need depth via free agency and draft. Just depends on whether our front office can hit on these.

Yes!! I saw some really good prospects coming up. We need depth and future pro bowl/all pro level players on defense.
