This isn’t so much of a “we should trade for him” type of thread. I don’t see us reasonably being able to give up what it would take, and it’s not or biggest need either.

But definitely curious as to where he would land.

I normally advocate giving HC a few years but I don’t think wilks is the right fit there. Maybe best to cut bait and start over.

Think Denver is in the same situation with Vance Joseph.

Cool, send the cardinals 7th rounder. Peterson can take a massive pay cut where he averages 5 million a season. I'm down for it.

I'm pretty sure he's only owed about 5 million for the rest of the season. It would be very tight for the cap, and the corners are playing pretty well (most of the breakdowns are with TEs and RBs), but Gilmore + Peterson would allow the Patriots to trust outside players in man, and flood the middle of the field with remaining personnel. Of course, teams will force them into situations where they have to play zone, but still, it would be the best CB duo in the league. Intriguing.

????

Which player is playing "pretty well" as the CB2?

McCourty and J Jones have been pretty solid all season. What's your expectation for levels of performance? A certain completion percentage? They eye test? Yards allowed? First downs? Passer rating against? I'm just curious about your metrics, as you seem quite down on the corner back group, which I'd venture is one of the stronger areas on the team.

Oh, and how could I forget your favorite? PFF grade.

Does he want out of Arizona badly enough to delay cash payments until March so they hit the 2019 cap instead? He could play for minimum salary, roughly half a million for the rest of the season, in return for a new guaranteed $5-6 million bonus due in March.

Just imagine two legit man to man shut down corners... no idea if or how we could do this

Agreed on the cb group. Now the safeties on the other hand, we could definitely use some help.

Honest question for those of you who really understand the position: who is a better overall cornerback (not punt returner too): Gilmore or Peterson?

They've benched, or essentially benched, Rowe, Jackson and McCourty. That would seem to indicate that expectations aren't being met.

When did they bench McCourty?
