Here is a list of where we draft.
1.21 (21 overall)
2.20 (52 overall)
3.11 (75 overall)
3.22 (86 overall)
4.9 (106 overall)
4.21 (118 overall)
5.3 (136 overall)
6.22 (191 overall)
6.36 (205 overall)
6.37 (206 overall)
7.21 (229 overall)

Amazing that 6 of these picks are all before round 5. I don't think for a minute that BB/SP will keep all these picks, but if they held on to the first 6, they could finds some quality players right away. There will be some big steals in the 3-4 round range. I also think that these picks show that we have the ability to move up if we really want to.

Did you happen to notice that our competitors in Indy only have 3 picks in the top 100, all end of rounders (30,62, 94), and none in the 4th, and then they drop off the board until the tail end of the 5th (162) and 6th. And they will likely be drafting for need (RB) with the 30th pick and not much wiggle room. They also haven't replaced a starting LB (Thornton) and have a bunch of starters who are RFA's this season who they will have to deal with next season along with Freeney. For a team who has relied heavily on cheap labor via the draft to balance a top heavy payroll, I do sense a window closing.

In the 6th they do however have pick #199 this season. Will be interesting to see what Polian does with that one comparitively speaking.

With the exception of moving up in the first round, its not all that "expensive" draft value wise to make other moves up when there's a worthwhile player available.

So even though we have 11 draft picks I don't think that means that BB will package them to move up just because we don't have room for 11 rookies on the roster and he therefore doesn't need that many picks

Indeed, there are plenty of 5th, 6th and even 7th round players that wind up being contributing starters down the road, understimated by draft "experts".

Having the ability to cast with a wide net of 11 draft picks increases the likelihood that we can find another diamond in the rough out of these guys.

Our top 7 picks should all land pretty good players. Looking at our roster, I see 5 sure openings between the WR, TE, RB and LB positions. I also see the possibility of upgrading the depth at OL, DL and DB. Plus we probably need a Kicker and a QB (probably a vet.)

So I really don't see that we have that much room to move up. Ideally, we could use our own 6th and 7th to either move up in the middle rounds, or acquire picks for next year. But I really don't see us drafting less than 6 guys in the first 5 rounds.

Exactly. If a player slipsway down in the draft into the middle rounds, and the Pats are stll 20 picks away, and the guy is getting to be a major steal, the Pats can easily move up and grab him.

We are definately in the "catbird" seat for this years draft.....Plenty of ammo to move around easily for targeted players..... Should be a great draft for us.

I actually see us keeping most of these pics...you only let the chips get so high before you cash in.....db..rb..lb...lb..bpa...bpa...k

Agreed -somehow, BB/Sp have things exactly they way they want it. They have manueverability, flexibility and a draft that is filled with many questions marks that only a team that is very dilligent in scouting will be able to ascertain. Teams that only use the Blesto type scouting combines will be at a major disadvantage.

This is NOT the draft to take to many naps - I see lots of moving around.

Going to be a blast!!
