Plus one of these: Hollins. Bourne.
Plus one of these: Polk. Baker. Chism.

Of course that's if everyone somehow makes it to the end of preseason healthy and ready for week 1.

Love what you did there...imagine IF Polk and Baker shows something. There will be no need to keep Bourne or Hollins. I'll wake up from this bad dream now.

The only reason I think he might make the team is his contract. It was an indication that the team was really high on him and that there was competition with other teams that wanted him. Him and Dipre were two of the highest UDFA contracts.

I mean, he went to the same school as Cooper Kupp and broke all his records.

the Pats slot WR's have historically seen a ton of targets, and take a lot of hits. Chism at 180-185 lbs needs to get stronger to take those hits, with out losing his quickness.

Iron sharpens iron. Whomever the 6 are who emerge, they will be better players from the battle. And the 2 that don't will have enhanced their value.

That's why this time I just want the guys who are the best at the end of this camp. No useless projects. Give Maye the best chance at a year 2 jump by surrounding him with whoever is best right now.

If Polk and Baker can't climb over Bourne/Hollins on the depth chart by preseason, are they worth spending more resources to develop?

The only guy who gets a free pass is rookie Kyle Williams. Not that I think he'll need it, but he has it.

Hollins brings something that neither Polk or Baker have....the ability to block and contribute to special teams. They need to be better than average cause so far they just suck.

Its interesting you say this. I watched a video on youtube yesterday that evaluated the first receiver picked in every draft since 2010 and who ultimately in that draft class performed the best over the course of their careers. I was surprised to see how many #1 drafted wide receivers didn't amount to anything and how many guys picked between rounds 2-5 became studs. Maybe one day we will actually hit on a WR and get rid of this curse.

Wouldn't be a shock at all. Boutte has a good shot at making the team. He's way ahead of Baker and also ahead of Polk.
6 wrs. Diggs,Williams,Hollins,Pop are
locks. It's early but Boutte and Chism beat out Polk and Baker right now. If Polk really shows big improvement, he's got a chance.
But Baker has NO chance. None. Zippo. Nada. Nil.

I’d be shocked if Chism makes the team. Diggs and Polk would have to start the season on PUP. As much as I would love for Chism to make the team, we’ve seen this movie before. Remember Austin Carr, he was the Chism of 2017. Actually had a great camp and preseason, then was cut.

I really like Kayshon Boutte, he showed me a lot last year. May not be a burner, but still gets open deep and Maye seems to have good chemistry with him. Good route runner, good hands. I just think he turns out to be a good piece for the Pats. Reminds me of David Given’s situation with the Pats. Not an elite receiver, but Givens was a very important piece for the early dynasty Pats, and was trusted by Brady.

I remember Givens dropping a perfectly placed bomb by Brady when Givens was a rookie. Worked with a Jugs machine all offseason, and from years 2-4, had 149 catches and 12 TD catches, and had td catches in back to back SBs.

I hear Boutte has been working with the Jugs machine as well. That sentence sounds R rated.

I didn’t like that Boutte was making excuses on his lateraled interception last year, but that was under Mayo’s failing regime.

I expect that won’t be an issue under Vrabel.

Chism's 40 time of 4.71 is the same as Danny Amendola's.

We have way too many WR's (9) - not sure what's going to happen. From the bottom up: Baker-Polk-Chism-Bourne-Boutte-Hollins-Pop-Williams-Diggs.

Of the nine, keep 6. With the other 3: Baker to the PS, slip someone on IR (Polk?), trade Bourne or Boutte.

There's going to be other variables. Injuries. Trades. Signings.

Too early to judge.

There was Berrios too. Guys still wanted Berrios even after he was cut by the JETE. I have no idea if the Chism hype is real or not.

And he is 6'4" tall and knows J McD offense from his time in Vegas. Very early signing because Josh loves Hollins. The guy is a lock.
