Ian posted an article about the OTAs, and who was not present... Yes, it is voluntary, but at least two of the no shows left me with a "eh, wtf bro" type feeling...

The list of no shows:
Carlton Davis, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Christian Gonzalez, Gabe Jacas, Kyle Dixon, and Harold Landry

Jacas, more like Jackass... and Kyle Dixon... Two rookies opt out of camp... one of them an udfa wr... is Dixon hurt? recovering from an off season injury/surgery? did he get pelted upside the head with a rather large rock?
 
I commented on Jacas previously. Rookies need all the lead time they can get. Dixon even worse, as a UDFA.

i figured it was covered in the OTA thread, but felt it was important enough to pull out of the larger thread...

just really wondering if there was a reason anyone knew about the rooks not showing up... kinda baffling, because as you said, they need all the reps they can get...

Not worried about Jacas. All we have heard about him is that he is a workout warrior that has to physically removed from the training facility each night.
 
Boutte is likely about money.

Gonzo I would hope not.

Here is the guy who when was told he was getting selected by the Pats and then did the video conference call after the draft stated: "I'm Ready" multiple times...... "I'll give you everything I got" multiple times....."Send me the playbook" " I'm ready to go!"

He forgot to mention as soon as you guys give me that guaranteed money.

He was cleared from his hamstring injury back in March. Could it be something new? Sure....The show me the money injury.

Jacas isn't signed yet.
 
Neither is Lomu. Didn't stop him.

Right now the second round is where most of the contract battles are fought.

First-rounders get 100% guaranteed contracts, players in the late 3rd and day 3 get nothing beyond their signing bonuses.

Don't buy it.

Jacas was pick 55.

Picks 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 58, 59, 60 62, 63 and 64 are all signed.


There should be no "second round contract battles". 28/33 2nd round picks are already signed. How much of a battle can 55 be when everyone on both sides of you has already established contract parameters?

Jacas needs to sign and get his ass on the field, and start working towards his second contract.

That's his choice.
I'll never begrudge someone who's not signed to a contract, to not participate in optional voluntary stuff. Too much on the line.

#43 pick Jacob Rodriguez is unsigned, but participated in Miami's OTAs.

#57 pick Logan Jones is unsigned, but participated in OTAs.

Time missed is developmental time lost. It can carry into the fall and beyond. It's a choice. It also comes off as a bit hypocritical for a guy who supposedly eats/sleeps football 24/7, and who tearfully emphasized how much he couldn't wait to get started.

You only get 1 chance to make a first impression. Bad first impression, IMO.

Boutte should absolutely be there if he wants more targets in this offense.

We should know better than falling for the "workout warrior". N'Keal Harry's stock sky rocketed after he matched DK Metcalf's bench press reps. He was the softest WR we've seen in a long time.

Posters here thought Keion White was going to throw OT's around like rag dolls after they saw his face on draft night. It turned out he likes doing the waltz with OT's.

Clearly Jacas is holding out for more money like Gonzo.
