Okay, let's pretend for a minute that TO signs a contract as described above- Who's wearing #81 this year? The number belongs to Moss on the Patriots and I don't see TO going with another number, and I don't see Moss giving it up.

That's because T.O. is remembered for his number and not the whining

his Jersey would read 81a

Almost tempting. But I look at the type of players the Pats have drafted the past two years, especially this year — potential leaders, college captains, etc. — and I'd imagine the last thing the team would want is TO infecting them.

A man who feels the door closing and hungry for a ring for a 1 year deal? Damn straight I'd do it. He played for an atrocious Bills team last year and avoided media baiting.

I would take him in a heartbeat. He played decently last year and his QB's were Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Imagine him and Brady? I doubt it will happen, then again, I wouldn't be surprised IF it happened.

Sorry, TO, but that ship sailed about a decade ago. Not much he can do about it now.

The cynic in me wonders if it's a coincidence that he only started caring once he stopped being so good that people would pay him anyways.

This year?

Worry about this if, and only if, Holt/Tate/Price/Patten all crap out enough in camp/exhibitions to justify looking at another receiver.

The difference: a locker room that has demonstrated its weakness.

Really? You don't see Owens going with another number? So, if the Patriots were the only team out there with a suitable offer, you think he'd just turn the offer down outright rather than switch to, say, #18?

Putting his attitude aside there isnt any room for him.

Moss & Welker - not even in their class anymore

Tate & Price - Sure he is likely still better than they are now but you don't give up on youth for a 35/36 year old.

Holt & Patten - I am sure neither was guarenteed anything but what have they done at this point so far to deserve replacement.

Aiken & Slater or if one of the others sneak in - if they were to carry a 6th WR they would have to be a serious contributor to STs and TO is not that.

Now come training camp if Welker goes on the PUP and and one of the others has issues (health or skill related) than maybe you would revisit the thought but then in order to pull the trigger you would have to be convinced of his attitude.

Once again, we're on the same page.

Totally. Like the Fakers had with Rodman. When he acted up, they cut him as per the contract.

Imagine if TO actually came to be serious and play, be humble and follow the Belichick way.

Our offense would be incredible. Revis would have to be cloned.

Yes, TO drops passes, but once he gets it at full speed, that mofo is really hard to take down. He's like the converse of Moss: big, not the best hands, and real tough. Moss is way better, of course, but TO would be a great complement, if only he could keep his crap together.

To be frank, here in Dallas, all this talk over how TO and Jason Witten were fighting was nothing but that...3rd party RUMORS. Other than that, they seemed to get along just fine(just looking on the sidelines during the games).

I find it funny that this story broke right after that gut-wrenching loss to the Steelers 2 years ago - we were up 13-3 in the 4th quarter until Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett decided to sit on it and play not to lose. And it also didn't help that our top 2 RBs(Barber and Felix) were injured, and were left with some 4th round rookie(Choice) making his first start. Otherwise, I think Barber would have closed out the 4th for us.

Overall - there were no frictions on the sidelines b/w TO, Romo, Witten, Garrett, etc, and Wade had nice things to say about him when all was said and done.

Re: OT - T.O. worried teams think he's a "troublemaker"

I hope you're kidding. If not, it's clear you aren't very informed when it comes to Owens' current skill set....

Of course he's still fast enough to be a WR

And no, I do not like Owens, in fact, I despise him. But to say he isn't fast enough to be a WR is just completely ignorant, no offense.
"completely ignorant, no offense"???? Of course that's offensive. Think about what you're saying.

"I disagree." Now that's "no offense."

So I guess you think 32 NFL GMs are completely ignorant, because it is pretty apparent their views of TO's skill set doesn't come close to matching yours.

If TO was any good, someone would sign him. He has no off-field arrests or troubles of any kind. He just has more hype than production.

In his defense, though, he is fast enough to get under the deep ball. Too bad he lets it clang off his hands once he gets under it.

I thought of that initially, then when I thought about it, I realized that incentives are not the way to go. He already complains when he doesn't get the ball enough. Can you imagine his rants if his pay were tied to receptions and Moss was getting the ball twice as much as he was? Ugh. Bad idea, incentives.

I was, uh... just having a little fun, stirring up a minor discussion. Maybe.
