Re: OT: Saints HC Sean Payton & LB coach accused of stealing team's painkillers (merg
I used to think that "truth, justice and the American way" always prevailed. I was disavowed of that a long time ago and so only viewed the unfair evisceration of Bill Belichick and the Patriots during Spygate as part of a corruption that I had accepted a long time ago.
I like what the Saints did not only for NO, but for the NFL this year. I'm a big fan of Sean Payton. I (very sincerely) hope the organization and its HC come out of this unscathed.
But, Vicodin is a Schedule III drug, regulated under the Controlled Substances Act. That's all "blah, blah, blah," except that illicit possession is a felony and covering up an attempt at illicit possession is a further felony. It's powerful stuff and sought by many. I was once prescribed a bunch after a very unpleasant dental procedure; I took one as the anesthetic wore off that night, took another the next morning, experienced how "goooood" it was and promptly threw the rest away.
So, either this guy Santini is nuts and, as a former FBI agent, is leading the feds on a wild goose chase, which he would know wouldn't make them very happy, or there is something to the story.
The fact that he has been "blacklisted" in the NFL is a neutral fact to me, as it can either confirm that he is a bad guy or it can mean that he is being punished for breaking some sort of code.
I believe what Ive pieced together is Vitt accepted responsibility for stealing the drugs, but loomis did not want to prosecute and sent him to rehab, Vitt (LB coach) is in constant pain because of a medical condition, and a close friend of Paytons. Much like Vilmas, I am guessing, he has crones, its why the jets let him go.
Santini did not like what loomis decided and talked to the NFL security, loomis yelled at him for this, and said it was a personal and not criminal matter.
Santini was blacklisted by the NFL because he went above loomis to the NFL, so I dont really know a team that would hire a guy that would not clear what he was going to do with the head office before he talked to a NFL security agent. I dont think the saints are blacklisting him.
Santini made an offer to the Saints for some unknown moneys to keep this out of court, and the Saints refused.
You know loomis he wont even pay D.Sharper
Payton was not involed in this at all, except for a side coach patton who said " payton was talked to and is not taking pills anymore", or close to that effect. No one knows what this means because payton is not even implicated.
Their is a matter of loomis changing the supply records but I dont know if thats true.
This is all conjecture of course.
There is only one person that knows the Saints as much as SP,loomis, etc, and thats Brees, and he will not lie. If they are hiding something and hes called to testify.. well. Walking up to Brees and asking him to not say what he saw would be a huge mistake, I believe.
But I dont think anything was done wrong, in the south personal matters are personal matters, I dont believe we are quite to the Law, but we do believe in, a person deserves their own dignity and things should be keep private.
This just might be a case of were southern ways of doing things and the federal law collide.
I dont know if we are ready to have our heros hurt, man we love football, America, and the indomitable spirit called life.
We don't want anything hidden we want the truth, truth is Saints are New Orleans.
