re: OT: Saints HC Sean Payton & LB coach accused of stealing team's painkillers (merged)

It really depends on when this guy got fired as it states nothing at this time except FORMER employee...Was it recently?,Was it before or after the Super Bowl or earlier in 2009? -If he recently got fired he could have done this for revenge AND blackmail or for some other reason or if it was earlier in 2009 why did he wait this long?,lots of questions to be answered on both ends.

I don't think anyone is saying Peyton and Vitt are guilty or not but why this is coming out now in the midst of the offseason is a bit interesting per say - Vitt was allegedly the one seen on tape, so he is the main one under scrutiny I would assume.

For this former employee spilling the beans when he didn't have to and could have kept the tapes in question quiet, still speaks volumns of revenge and a way to get even with a team that let him go.

I does seem a bit odd that a FBI vet of 31 years would have no video of this charge. I do appreciate your candor in this manor PATRIOTSFANINPA, and I hope we do prove we are in the right of this.

I respect the Saints and coach Payton and if there is a team doing illegal things, the Saints would probably be close to last on my list of suspects, this allegation surprised me.

I hope its all BS,I hope Saints fans don't hear 4 words anytime soon...'Goodell looking into this'.

Now if it were the Cowboys,Jets or Raiders I would have almost expected something of this nature.

Welcome to the top Saints. "They" always want to kill the king.

unlike your team CREEPINDETH, I really do not think we are equipped or as strong to deal with this. We are simply not built this way. Our heart is pretty much on our sleeve. This will hurt, but I know its not true

Has Matt Walsh been holding seminars on how to get back at your old bosses since 2007? Seems like a page right out of his book

As much as Saints fans don't want to believe this is true, IF and that is a huge IF, Payton did it they better be proactive and cover their butts because the backlash from protecting him could damage your team for years...the PR nightmare alone will be a monkey on their backs the rest of the year and if there were laws broken this could drag into next year and see possible draft picks yanked and fines coming from the high and mighty Goodell.

And keep this in mind even though you have made your up your mind on their innocence: Benson and the team may have hearts of gold after Katrina but even the best people have dark sides and skeletons in their closets...

Jackson I do remember you well, and am a little honored you took the time.
I dont think we really understand this yet. We do not have much in N.O. ,but our honor as fathers, friends, and fans, means allot to us.
We are not the Patriots, and we don't pretend to be.
We know it takes 3 rings to to equal to your accomplishments in the field, years of dedication and commitment by those that support. What you have and will do is truly amazing.
I tell you truly and you met us, we are a simple kind folk, this will hurt us very much. Now our shores are filled with another oil disaster by BP. I fear the world grows tired of us and our problems, and as you said “Welcome to the club”. I dont think Id trade anything for that day, but yes what you say makes sense. I just hope we are strong enough and stick together like we did before when it mattered.

The world loves New Orleans and the people. I think the world is just tired of Louisiana politicians, who once again dropped the ball bigtime on the oil spill (and obviously for those who know what I'm talking about, that's not a partisan political comment, since it cuts across party lines).

But wouldn't any video be property of the Saints? So to have it, he would have had to have stolen it during his employment?

FWIW, I really do hope the allegations prove to be totally unfounded. I respect the Saints, and the league as a whole needs less of this kind of crap and more good football. But a lot of the attempts to make the accuser seem non-credible sound like wishful thinking to me.

efin98, I respect your post very much, you show an insight, that I dont poetically want to hear. I will try to clarify, we are not N.E., we can not lose our heros. Payton,Brees, loomis, and Benson are a important part of our culture. Because they where never football heros to us they became that outside of football, they didn't talk they built and stood shoulder to shoulder with us to help, with a hammer. As I stated I can only believe in them, thats what I say.

The 12 Page Lawsuit is in PDF format from this article....

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton denies he ever abused or stole any pain medication | - NOLA.com

The accuser was fired of his duties just prior to the season opener
on August 28th 2009....they then went on to win the Super Bowl....that would turn a situation into something bad if you had proof of it and mad you were not with the team after they finally won the big one.

The only employees of a team that wins the SB that is not allowed a ring are the cheerleaders, everyone else employed and paid by the owner of the championship team can receive one if the owner wishes to buy them for the staff,Maybe he found out that Benson gave EVERY person employed by the Saints rings and got REALLY livid he was not part of it.

What I think is interesting is the allegations say that during the 2009 season that this was being done when in fact I read that he was FIRED BEFORE the season even began?

I think thats true patchick, and I agree, he deserves his day in court. He deserves not to be put down for his allegations, and not to be made fun of.

as much as it pains me Mr. Santini is also right until proven wrong, an that should be respected by our laws.

ouch

FWIW Pherein...I think the charge is garbage...I think the Saints are world champions...I think there's a hidden scumb-g with an agenda to insure a NY team, or preferably BOTH NY teams meet in a Super Bowl as soon as possible and sees this Saints team as another roadblock to a near future all NY fixorama. I think this undercover corporate criminal will go to any lengths to insure this scenario comes to fruition for all his NY cronies, for his first boss who launched his career, for all the politicians and friends of his father who would benefit in untold ancillary NY metro area bonanzas. I think when you see him levy a slap on the wrist 50 grand fine for a head coach being DRUNK,LEWD,OBSCENE and an EMBARRASSMENT to the game yet wage a two year war replete with million dollar fines, lost #1 draft picks, lies and disgusting untruthful innuendos on a constant basis against THAT coach's DIRECT competitor, what you have is an ORGANIZED CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY.

You'll find out soon enough just by HIS actions on this matter.

I find this "oh, it's just a disgruntled employee nothing more" to be laughable. There's definitely somebody behind it...and he'll show his face soon enough..

re: OT: Saints HC Sean Payton & LB coach accused of stealing team's painkillers (merged)

If the Saints don't win the Super Bowl we don't hear about this and the accuser keeps this info (if true) to himself...that is what I really believe.

This was a man MAD enough to not be a part of a world championship team that he is willing to go to all lengths to get even with the team that gave him a fine job that he obviously messed up on or was no good at.

re: OT: Saints HC Sean Payton & LB coach accused of stealing team's painkillers (merged)

I knew this would break big

My position is not complicated on this matter. Benson, loomis,SP and the Saints organization have devoted more than any team, I know of, in the history of the NFL to helping its people and supporting a rebuild on their free time. They have commited and proved they are true in my mind.

I do not know Mr. Santini or any time I have heard his name to help the city in his off time.

I will believe in the Saints good character because they have proven it to me, with deeds, and not talk. I dont care that they won the Super Bowl. Every day Brees,Sp,Benson,Loomis, and the Saints preached to help the community and they delivered from 2006-Now. They have put millions into our communities and built along side us as friends.

My position is not complicated. They were there for me, and us, as New England was when we ready need help, now Im there for them.

I dont care what the accusations are, they must be proven in a court of law, and until that happens, I support the Saints because when we really needed them, they were there as you were.

Only facts I know is loomis told Mr. Santini after seeing the tape " this is not a criminal matter"

Egh- we feel your pain, man. More than anyone else, Pats fans understand how this goes. Don't sweat it: even if Payton was stealing vicodin, it's nobody's business but his and the team's.By all means this story should die, and I hope it does.

No he isn't. In a vicil case, that's not the burden of proof, and even if this was a criminal case, it would be Payton that's innocent until proven guilty. It's possible that Santini's right, but even if he is... eh. Who cares.

I hope your right PATRIOTSFANINPA, andI will believe it to be so,
we need our heros in N.O. as do you, and from judging from your indomitable character we might breath the same air.

New Orleans is a place of honor. Good manners and behavior to your word is literally a part of us. This is a huge embarrassment for us.

Hey BradyFTW , nice to see you again, really hope all is good with you. Yea we are not prepared for this. funny , we wanted it and got the prize, now were children in some adult playground we don't get yet. You guys get it , but we don't.
Sometimes I think were to simple, I do hope our character does not disappoint you in the end.

Katrina might have destroyed a huge portion of your city years ago, but it did not take away the heart, love and the will of its residents to get it back to where it was before those winds and rain took the city to the depths of despair and today's N.O. shows little to no effect of those days,at least from what I see on TV and in the news.

Your city has come too far and worked too hard to have something like this bring that city down after such a joyous championship celebration just 3 months removed.

Your city, your fellow fans and the New Orleans Saints will get by this just like we got by Spygate and the loss of an undefeated season....

I do hope this gets no disciplanary action from within the league and your coaches are proven innocent.

We survived here....You will survive as well

This too shall pass as it did up here. The ones continuing to pound the issue after it is clear what really happened are ones that are going to look for dirt under every rock and dig through dirty laundry to find the smelliest items.

re: OT: Saints HC Sean Payton & LB coach accused of stealing team's painkillers (merged)

I'm not very knowledgeable about prescription drugs, so excuse me if I'm wrong - but isn't Vicodin simply a painkiller?

And what the frig is wrong with taking a couple?!

Good Lord. Hopefully this gets laughed out of court.

I think it's pretty desperate stuff as well. I'm guessing that the Saints may be looking at a counter-suit, if there is no evidence of wrongdoing.
