OT: Ryan and Dungy go back and forth

I'm just saying for years on these boards, literally anything Dungy said was ripped.

Now, because he says it about a team and man you all hate.....he's "speaking the truth".

It's nice to see Pats fans not ripping Dungy but it's a bit hypocritical IMO.

Lookie there. A "BigTimeColtsFan" calling Patriots fans hypocritical. Like a kettle calling the pot black isn't it. Just because I agree with what Dungy said about the Jets, a team I happen to despise, doesn't mean I stopped thinking Dungy is still a self-righteous AZZ!

I didn't like Dungy because I thought he was a sanctimonious A-hole. A guy who allows a biography about him to be called "Quiet Strength" and then travels the country promoting himself and his biography. I haven't followed him much since he left coaching, but I doubt he's changed.

Having said that, if he happens to say something that is true, I see nothing hypocritical about agreeing with him... especially when said about someone (Rex Ryan) that I dislike even more than Dungy.

Now, if Dungy says it about the Patriots, that's a different matter. I don't need to hear bad things (even if true) about my team from some sanctimonious A-hole like Dungy!

Bart Scott was just on first take... VERY humble about the post game comments from sunday... basically did a 180. He said when a guy he respects like Dungy says something, you listen. Said he let his emotions get the best of him on the podium as he was up there right after the game. I'll give him a little credit at least he was a man about it and admitted he was wrong.

You are aware that this happens on every forum. For instance, whatever BB or Brady says is ripped on your forums (especially ColtFreaks who I happen to lurk at sometimes). Now, if they turned around and badmouthed Jeff Fisher or Jack Del Rio, you guys would all claim that they were "speaking the truth".

As for me, St. Dungy is the lesser of the two evils.

romeo a mastermind ?

its easy to look like a mastermind when you have

ted washington best NT to every play the game

seymour best 3-4 DE in the NFL

willy mac all time leader in post season sack's

ty law he was the best all around corner in the game at the time

harrison HOF... S

tedy b mike vrabel and rosie colvin all in there prime

pees has

green wright burgees TBC Bodden

not the same talent that romeo had

and if romeo was such a mastermind tell me way the browns D got worst every year he was there

he had D'Qwell Jackson and Andra Davis two of the better ILB in the game

Kamerion Wimbley who had 11 sack's as a rookie

yet hes D was ranked 16th in 2005... 27th in 2006... 30th in 2007... 26th in 2008

that dose not sound like a mastermind to me

the only real knock on pees is the team is not geting sack's will you cant get sack's when you dont have any passrusher's

and blitzing more will not help they did that to start off the raven's game and they still could not get to flacco and Derrick Mason got all most a 100 yerd's on them in the first half

just because the DB's are better this year vs last year dose not mean they are the best in the NFL

if they blitz 5 and 6 the corners will get beat like they got beat in the raven's game and in the denver game

dude romeo d shut down mvps, pess d make seneca wallaces look like mvps. AD, Sey etc were premier players in diff schemes, under pess...they look like v.gholstons. put down the jug.

Yeah, he was also on M&M earlier saying the same things. He also added (paraphrasing slightly) that the Pats are always finding ways to win and that's why they're always such a good team. NO...he wasn't being sarcastic this time!! So, I guess I'll give him a pass for now.

Good for Bart. I have a feeling hell will freeze over before you see his HC take that lead.

You're like the defensive version of NEM... and with worse grammer.

I'm not a Pees apologist and I HATE it when we give WRs too much cusion. However, you have to take into account limitations of our personel vs their WRs as well as our odds of getting any kind of pass rush that would help limit time to make long pass receptions.

There's also the strategy of leaving a cusion to take away the deep passes while allowing short passes against a team that has problems sustaining long drives when forced to consistantly make a lot of plays... I don't know... maybe their WRs have crappy hands or their QB is horribly impatient and tries to force deep throws or their oline is notorious for committing drive killing holding penalties.

Point is... you can't just look at one little aspect of the game and ignore all of the variables that affect it. This issue seems to have improved since the Denver game, but is that because of the change in personel, a change in strategy, or just the fact that the opposition sucked? Possibly a combination of all of those? I hope the improvement continues.

In any case, Pees is not sole reason for any and all perceived defensive woes any more than Charlie Weis was the sole reason for perceived offensive woes back in the day... and aren't we like #6 in total defense anyway?
