They drafted Randall Woodfield in 1974. They cut him at the end of TC because he was arrested for indecent exposure.

Later on he was convicted in the murder of one person but connected to 18 in total. He was the I-5 Killer

Nevada law says 2-20 years for DUI with associated death, no chance for parole. I suppose a plea bargain may result in reduced charges, time will tell. I wouldn't want to be the prosecutor in this case. They'll face all kinds of pressure to let the dude skate.

just offered up the Stallworth dui case as a referene, showing what the leagues stance has been ... there was also the guy in Dallas... Brent somebody... who killed a teammate/passenger in his car... couldnt remember if it was dui related or not, so i didnt mention it

Not sure Ruggs is done with the NFL. He remained at the scene and apparently took a sobriety test. Cooperation with the authorities goes a long way....

If you are drunk, a defense attorney would advise not to take the sobriety test. In many states that results in an automatic suspension of your license, but that is a small price to pay in exchange for reasonable doubt. And yes I know they can compel a blood draw later on, but that takes hours and creates problems of its own. Often such blood draws and not admissible.

And I hadn't realized the Raiders released him. It kind of changes the dynamics the prosecutor faces, IMO. He's no longer a member of the local team, he's just a dude from Alabama that smashed his expensive sports car into the back of a lady's Toyota at 4 AM while driving drunk.

So much in this case depends on how the prosecutor sees this case. As you say it's easy to see it be 20 years. OTOH there could be other precedents that make it hard to ask for the full 20. Don't think he has a record, he's a young guy, in theory you can make a case he'll be able to turn his life around if given another chance.
