OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Blaine Gabbert will be your starting QB on Saturday, per Bruce Arians.

Imagine suspending your own players for something like this? Yet one coach benched his all-pro wide receiver for a series - in a playoff game - over a press conference joke then was heard on national television apologizing for his Hall of Fame tight end’s one major infraction and calling it “********” to the other coach.

Oh, and that same coach was supported by every player and member of the organization when he was under attack.

Preach!

How ****ing stupid do you have to be to bench a player for a joke that wasn’t even offensive. That’s not flying anymore without players coming here for “the patriot way” anymore

Back of the end zone passing to receivers now. Bucs still practicing separate from Titans early on.

Fighting? What fighting? Antonio Brown sparked a day of physicality as the Bucs ramped up the intensity in the second day of joint practices with the Titans. Much improved from Wednesday. More here:

Here are some great photos of the Antonio Brown-Chris Jackson skirmish today. Arians said AB was "waving at flies," but you can plainly see he landed a punch pretty squarely.

"Waving at flies"

The Bucs have a swagger this season. It might blow up in their face, it’s happened to teams before. But man they just look like a well oiled machine right now.
They returned all their starters. The players and mgmt are in complete harmony which is rare. And of course they have the Goat leading them.
I agree that the swag is palpable.

Mahomes sucked today and made the exact same mistakes he’s continually made which is not stepping into a pocket and instead rolling out and trying for hero ball.
Between his athletic ability and arm talent, I really doubt he will be able to morph into a true pocket passer who does not bail at the first sign of trouble.

Oh and the SB loser hangover is real especially when you get curb stopped.

The Superbowl hangover loss is a myth. Cause and correlation are 2 different things.

We saw this when the Pats lost to the Eagles in the Superbowl then won the following year.

Peyton and the Broncos got curb stomped by the Seahawks, stayed a strong playoff team and won a couple years later

Small sample size and all but only two teams have ever won the SB the year after losing it. One had the GOAT QB and Coach (18 Pats) and the other had an undefeated Dolphins team coached by another all time great. That’s it.

I don’t know how to link Instagram stories but Brady put up one hell of a post today about being free from being imprisoned by someone and that you need to ignore the lies they spread about him. Umm. I’m starting to buy into the theory that Brady got word that the upcoming Wickersham book has quotes from probably unarmed Patriots people (Bill) that really paint Brady in a bad light. And that’s why he’s been scored earth for the last few months. Oh and before people inevitably go “ah it’s wickersham making stuff up” it is known that Brady is close and friendly with the guy. It’s likely Seth asked him for a comment about what he was told. Burt Breer, someone who has publicly said that he read the advance copy already, just this week dropped a nugget that Brady apparently was eager for Bill O Brian to be Pats coach after the 2017 season and SB 52 mess.

How many teams have won back to back Superbowls?

The Bills made it to 4 Superbowls in a row and lost them all.

Superbowl hangover is just a made up media tagline.

Look at how quick the Eagles fell apart after the winning the Superbowl.

The Bucs went on a 19 year span after winning the Superbowl with only 2 wildcard appearances that occurred a few years after winning the Superbowl.

Winning or losing a Superbowl has no cause and effect on the next season.

Well to his defense espn will goat him as long as that wrong play looks pretty even if resulted in an incomplete pass

The players themselves have acknowledged the difficulties.

Yeah. It’s emotionally draining. It’s hard to get so close and not win it. And in the NFL you can’t just roll out the your conference best talent the next season and just run it back like you can in the NBA or to a lesser extent MLB.

Absolutely. It's also the extra games (and shorter offseason), the harder schedule for teams that finish higher, the talent drain, and assorted other things.

Also the Chiefs rely on two very important pieces for their offense to run and they need both on the field at the same time. Losing either Kelce or Hill completely changes their explosiveness. And yes it’s hardly uncommon for any great football team to rely very heavily on a couple super stars but they really don’t have much to fill their shoes in the event one goes down.
