Going to be a sad day when he finally retires. Living legend. Enjoy him while you can. He probably only has 1-3 years left. I added 3 because you never know with this guy.

Either way he is much closer to the end than ever, and hopefully he can transition well. Most professional athletes don't. They can't handle not being at the center of action, of attention.

Saints fans have been lamenting this ever since the Bucs beat the Saints and Brees through 3 horrible picks while Brady calmly engineered the win vs a team that had swept them in the regular season. It has been pure gold reading their fan site.
They quickly went from ''Brees is the Messiah'' to ''We say you're THE Messiah, Tom, and we should know, we have followed a few!''

Fleshing that out a bit:

“I want to be here. I love the guys on the team,” Godwin said. “I think we got something special, but, at the same time, you got to consider all the possibilities out there and consider doing what’s best for you and your family. . . . The goal obviously is to get paid, right? But, at the same time, I’m not stupid. I’m not going to put myself in a situation where I’m going to be miserable for some years to come just for a couple extra dollars. I think my happiness is paramount in all of this and part of that happiness is winning.”

Good news is he wants to stay. I doubt he gets pissed if he gets tagged. He'll see how it goes with Shaq who was tagged last year and will get an extension this yr. Either way, making $15-16M at 25 for a year is nothing to be too upset over. I get the injury concern but it's football after all.

Apparently, the Bucs have only used the tag like 5 or 6 times in their entire history, so they clearly value him.

The tag might just be to buy time to work on the extension. I doubt they let him sit on it given he is 24 and they want him long-term.

I think increased career earnings with a great QB versus a **** QB is a real factor, no? If you're still young like Godwin, you'll probably be a FA again before age 30.

Ugh, 2006. Instead we get this

Some folks in Tampa are debating if Chris Godwin is worth getting tagged or getting money as a WR#1 when he's not.

Idk but this video is interesting.

Seems like they might be signing a $12M receiver for $15M. Not really a devastating overpay.

Just hope they don’t sign a $10M pass rusher for $20M.

Spotrac has Shaq with an estimated market value of $19.7M apy. Too high.

PFF predicts a 4 yr contract with Bucs of $68M ($17M apy). That's less than Trey Flowers' $18M apy

Trey Flowers is worth like $8M though. Pass rushers are a scam.

Idk, those boys had Mahomes running for his life. We've seen what happens when you can't pressure a QB. Freaking back-up Foles picked us apart in the SB. Embarrassing.

Someone tell me what this guy do before he came to the bucs? Also his numbers went down after a great 2019. I keep saying he’s a product of the bucs defensive front especially vea. I wouldn’t give him 17 million dollars.
