That’s really sad to hear. I’m only two years older than him. He was an awesome player.

That sucks…. . Hope his siblings don’t get it also….one of his sisters played OL…definitely a football family.

Condolences to his family and friends.

That really is sad, way too young. And he was a GREAT player. My thoughts go out to his friends, family and fans.

Very very sad news
Only 41

RIP. We played him from 06 to 16. Was a mainstay in the rivalry for the golden years. Sad to see this happen.

Damn just too young, really really sorry to hear that. RIP.

Really tragic situation. Apparently he just reached out this last week to the media due to needing a kidney transplant. I guess he’s had kidney disease for nearly 20 years now.

Really sad to hear he couldn’t find one in time. Gathered that he was an all around good dude. RIP.
He is up for the 2026 NFL HOF.

I always thought that he was a great Center and teammate. Damn shame that he could not put on the gold jacket.

Wow. That's terrible news. Great player, RIP.

Awful news. Seemed like a real solid human being. it makes the Jets’ win today meaningful in a different kind of way.

Very sad.

Cases like this (and now Albert Haynesworth) always make me wonder about possible connections between dying young of such things and football/PED use. But with Mangold specifically, his health issues reportedly stemmed from a genetic defect (diagnosed in 2006) that caused chronic kidney disease.

He injured his neck during a game at Gillette, when he was finally helped off the field he received the loudest ovation I’ve heard an opposing player receive in all my years attending games there.

Sorry to see this. Guy was a beast and one of the best Centers this league has had. Way too young.

Man this is so sad to hear...I am about this age and it just makes you think how fragile life is sometimes...

Martin reminded me of Vincent Jackson's story. Tough stuff.
Used to see both Jackson and Martin out quite a bit when I lived in Tampa. Both of them had major alcohol issues.
