OT: NFL issues slap on the wrist for Giants (200K in fines and lowers 4th round draft pick )

you know what goodell will say - "giants cooperated"

It should be no less than 750,000 and loss of a 1st rounder. That was the fine the Pats got in 2007 for a first offense. The Giants should suffer the same. They knowingly and willingly cheated. Cooperation means nothing when you blatantly thumb your nose at the rules. They made an example of the Patriots. Yet show no consistency again. Pathetic.

Somebody posted the league rules in last weeks thread. IIRC: If both teams headsets go down for some length of time, the officials can allow both teams to use the walkietalkie system.

Really, I always thought, because the TV folks and the league told me, in those scenarios the other team has to shutdown their system until the issue is fixed on the other sideline.

So the Giants were fined for something that technically could be legal had they simply informed a Ref of their issues?

Unreal that things like this are even a big deal, Tagliabue must be shaking his head watching this **** unfold. None of this would ever have been handled like this by him.

4th round pick moved to the end of the round ,WTF!

I can see Goodell sitting in his office and thinking if he just dropped the fourth round pick, people would think he is being even handed in his decisions because he took away their draft pick at least the order of it.

The problem is the league fully knows it's showing favoritism, but 1) they don't care if it's obvious and 2) they expect everyone to just take it.

Some ratings drops this year aside, they've been right so far.

They claimed Farmer was warned repeatedly and told to stop multiple times.

I call BS

I paid attention to the Farmer story because it was on the NFL's docket at the same time as the Falcons pumping on crowd noise and deflated footballs sham. I could be wrong, but I don't recall multiple warnings being mentioned at that time and that Farmer had texted on more than one occasion. Now, it's being mentioned like it was common knowledge all along. I'd have to go back and re-read the details about Farmer, but it seems like the NFL is re-shaping the narrative to justify the Giants situation.

First offense with no in-game benefit. The Giants actually got an in-game benefit.

"re-shaping", just like how goodell "re-shaped" brady's testimony to make it seem like he lied under oath.

.

I am sure Eli knew something was going on as well, so he should get a 4 game suspension just for "possibly knowing" something was going on.

The Falcons pumping in crowd noise, the Colts pumping in crowd noise and then tampering with the Temperature in the dome boosting the temp into the 90's during a playoff game against the Pats. It is disgusting the inconsistency of Goodell and his "Punishments" he doles out.

0.

The ratings for Pats games have been through the roof because everyone tunes in now in hopes of seeing them lose. Watch, if the Pats lose again, watch the trolls come out in droves.

Well when you think about it, yes he should get a 4 game suspension. People will point to the Patriot's "history" as the reason for Brady's suspension, but really the player and the team are separate entities. That was a "first offence" for Brady, and therefore the precedent has been set for first offence "integrity" violations.

Your definition of integrity and my definition of integrity are the same. However, Goodell's definition means something entirely different.

Wasn't it also the Giants that brought to light the deflated footballs of the Steelers about 2 weeks ago. Not so much ratting out the Steelers as it was to call out the NFL for their flawed testing of the footballs. Still no ramifications for either team. It is disgusting to me how lop sided Goodell is.

No justice, no peace. PLM.

AND, while the Giants' 4th round pick wasn't lost, just lowered by 12 slots maximum, the Pats actually lost 1st and 4th round picks, and were further hampered by the stipulation that they would lose the higher pick if they traded for higher ones in the round.

That wasn't punishment, that was spite.

I wish I didn't love football so much, but Goodell's NFL* is breaking me of that.

Unbelievable.

Giants' 2007 and 2011 Superbowl wins need asterisks.
And this isn't punishment it's a favor dressed up.

The draft pick was added to make a nothing punishment sound substantial. A lot of people won't look past the Giants losing a pick, most won't look past them losing a 4th.
