OT: McFadden Detained After Bar Fight

...not in a piano bar.

Well, I have

What's the name of that piano bar on Lansdowne street? I was banned for life and couldn't get into any other club on the street that night.

It was years ago but I believe it was for some altercation with one or more of the bouncers. Young, drunk, and dumb.

You seem very quick to judge someone who wasn't charged with anything.

You simply CAN'T put yourself in this kind of position when you're this-close to being a top-5 pick in the NFL draft. The fact that he was there at all, in ANY way - even tangentially - involved is going to COST HIM MONEY in a way that simply not being an F-ing bonehead would not. DON'T GO THERE and don't be involved at any level where the cops can detain you for ANYTHING.

You don't have to be "charged with anything" to display poor judgment. And in this climate, this crap will MATTER to NFL teams.

He got drunk and got in a fight in a bar... and wasn't even charged with anything. I'm sure that's never happened to anyone here.

Not the point. At all.

So, he cannot go out to a bar until the draft? These seem like fairly Draconian requirements to me, I think the Pats might be setting the bar a little too high with this one. Maybe they will just draft service academy players from now on

Jake Ivory's? That place blows

Earlier, I was advocating us drafting him, but the more I think about his game, the more I dislike...he doesn't run low, and doesn't have great vision...plus it's a very deep RB class, chances are we could find a compliment to Maroney (Mike Hart?) in the 3rd or 4th...

I'll take Gholston or Jenkins at 7 please.

Did everyone forget about Sammy Morriss?????

Ridiculous. What a ****ing TOOL. Just stay out of trouble for the next 6 months, d-bag. You just cost yourself at LEAST a million dollars. Don't want him anywhere near my team.

Kill em all , sort out the names later!!!!!!

You tell em pat sox

How slow do you have to be not to realize that the guy probably just cost himself a million+ dollars, or more. Just the price of one team passing on him and causing him to drop one spot in the draft.

He doesn't have to be charged with anything for a team to pass on him in the top 3. All they have to do is say, "Hmm, one bar incident could have been chance. Two tells me I will have trouble with this guy."

Haha no, but I don't know if he'll be back....isn't his cap number super high?
roughly 2mil next year, then 1.4mil in 2008 and 2009.

some of that money is signing bonus, though, so you wouldn't get that if he was cut.

The thing that amazes me is: Why would anyone consider cutting him?

Hmm. I see from the article that his mother insists Darren wasn't fighting, that the reason he was "agitated" was because his little brother Daryl was fighting and got a bloody nose.

His brother Daryl, FYI, is a QB at East Carolina. A freshman QB. Which is to say, doubtless under 21. Tagging along with big bro...in a bar fight after midnight

Just another little contribution to the "Darren's good judgment" derby.

Nice pickup Patchick.

If teams let this one incident affect his getting drafted where he should go its crazy. Its not like he has had many bouts with the law, just one isolated event in which he wasn't even rung up on charges.

There are members on this years patriots teams who have had single incidents with police in fights such as this and have ended up being character guys for the organization as well as captains. If you need an example look to what Mike Vrabel did when he was still at Ohio State- granted didn't enter the draft as a top 10 pick but in principle one incident doesn't always mean that the player is going to be getting in trouble for the rest of his career.

This is great news. Hopefully he drops in the draft cuz of it and we get to take him

Was thinking the same thing.

FWIW, in 2006 McFadden missed some time with an injury suffered in...a bar fight. He was given a pass on that as an "isolated incident" but a second time raises eyebrows, especially during the key pre-draft period when every elite prospect knows he's under the microscope.

Not to mention Patchicks point, where his younger (less then 21?) brother was involved. Kind of makes me think of the Vick brothers, pre-dog period.

Not only is his younger brother under 21, but so is Darren Mcfadden. He was born August 1987. Remember, he's only a junior in college. If he was drunk, he should have been charged with underage drinking.
