OT: Matt Ryan to Colts

Mac Jones is already better than all of those QBs, except Josh Allen who's the best in the AFC by quite a wide margin.

He made the pro bowl in his Rookie season. How many of those guys did that?

At first I thought you had to be joking but apparently not. It goes without saying but all of those quarterbacks are better than Jones right now. We'll see what Jones develops into but as of right now he's obviously not in the same class as those other quarterbacks. And the pro bowl?... Jackson, Allen & Carr all declined invites before they got to Jones. And Burrow was preparing for the Super Bowl. Jones had a nice season but he wasn't a pro bowl caliber quarterback.

Colts shouldn't have released Peyton Manning back in the day. Hindsight of course.

It didn’t matter. Is was probably still the correct decision. Peyton was very good in 2012, great in 2013, then fall off midway through 2014 and was garbage from then until he retired. The Broncos were stacked during that time and were winning with Tebow than they got stacked on defense and carried his corpse. The Colts were going through a rebuild and he wasn’t going to have the talent he had in Denver. He got the best outcome for him and the Colts got to move on with Luck.

The real issue was Luck getting injured and then retiring just as they finally rebuilt the team into something competent with Ballard. That set them back. But Peyton wasn’t going to factor into that regardless. At the end of the day they weren’t going to win anything with Peyton again and he was going to crap out before they rebuilt. Hell Peyton might have retired earlier behind that offensive line.

Is that in order? If so then Watson is too low.

I would rank them like this:

Top 3 are clear to me. 4-8 are pretty tight. I think Allen overtakes Mahomes next season. Wilson would be most likely to drop a spot or two. Big season for Jackson too, he needs to reverse his downward trending.

Mariota is a pretty big downgrade from Ryan. Pretty much a disaster in Atlanta right now.

So, Colts basically trade Carson Wentz for Matt Ryan and a third round pick, right? I know Ryan is older, but that seems like a win for the Colts.

They are also "trading" a ton of cap space to Atlanta, which everyone forgets about. That's a lot of ability to sign FA's.

Mahomes is a pretty big loser in this AFC arms race that touched off this offseason. No longer even clearly the favorite in their division when just a couple of seasons ago people were projecting multiple Super Bowl appearances for KC. Seems highly unlikely now. Too bad for Mahomes, right now he's sitting on a 26/3 TD/INT ratio in postseasons games not called the Super Bowl where he's got an ugly 2/4 TD/INT ratio... coming up small in the biggest game.

Absolute hilarious meltdown on sports talk radio down here in Atlanta. Within the past week icons Freddie Freeman and Matt Ryan have left town.

What makes the Falcons look even worse - If that's possible - is the contrast between the Falcons and the Braves. The Braves win the World Series and have a perfect plan B by trading for Matt Olsen. By contrast, the Falcons went from being offered a 2nd and 4th round pick a couple of weeks ago to being lucky to get a 3rd from Indy because of the bonus money owed to Ryan. They completely botched this and everyone seems to agree that it was Arthur Blank (and not his coach or GM) going all in on Deshaun Watson that burned all the bridges with Ryan.

I've heard this at least a half a dozen times on the radio in the last half hour: ever since 28-3 the Falcons have been a complete disaster. The Pats destroyed this franchise

No worthwhile trades are going to happen. So it might be cheap to trade up this year.

Yes, there are fans that never got over Vick and his excitement plays. Of course they forget that by his own admission he didn’t study the playbook, was last in and first out of the locker room. Unlike Ryan who lived the game, first in and last out, gave back so much to Atlanta.

I went to the Falcons board and was laughing my butt off at them. I told them as much as they have been hating on him they were lucky to get a 3rd pick! Falcons still have a 45 million cap hit this year!
Such a stupid organization!!

Also big note to Baker and I was one of his biggest fans in college. You're an adult now. Twitter isn't real. You handle stuff behind the scenes, quietly and still stick it to you're former team. ATL got robbed and won't be relevant for a good 3-5 years.

We're talking about making sure you have the right HC/GM combo. Get a real top 10 franchise QB. Build an OL/DL. Idk find a competent WR that isn't dumb enough to use C_Ridley_ATL_FALCONS_WR with an NFL partner. Honestly that team might be competing with Houston for the #1 pick next year.
