OT: Mac Jones signs with 49ers

Good luck, with the strong roster the 49ers had all these years maybe he could've made a noise, now it seems their window is completely shut and they're losing every player. Rebuild coming.

Not sure of the exact definition but in the NFL they seem to call a player a veteran if he's been around for a couple of years.

"Veteran" is defined as a player with at least one year experience under his belt. In other words, not a rookie.

Nah he's fine as a backup for a lot of teams.

Most backups in the league are backups for a reason, they can show flashes but they're not good enough or consistent enough to be starters. Jones is no better or worse than that.

Just as productive as Jimmy G. So, not great, but workable in that offense.

I could envisage a Moe Lewis scenario i.e. Purdy gets poleaxed and Mac leads them to a Lombardi and greatness. Joshing aside, Purdy was a nobody in college. Mac won a Natty. Yes, Mac had decent receivers but so does Purdy.

1) This organization was a disaster in building around Mac and failed him at every turn.

2) Mac didn't seem to have the physical tools to be a great QB nor the mental fortitude to be the face of a franchise/leader of a team.

Both of those can be true.

Yup. Shanahan always wanted him but I heard he was talked out of it and decided to take Trey Lance instead.

Lance was a complete disaster. This is Shanahan's chance to get the girl he wanted at the dance a few years ago.

Mac Jones was a wimp, but the patriots front office failed him with only 1 draft pick at wide receiver during his tenure here (Tyquan Thornton ) and outrageous FA contracts to washed up castoffs like Juju & Nelson Agholor
