OT: Kudos to refs

Re: OT: Kudos to Refs

They missed so many PI calls

I still have never actually seen the Colts get called for defensive PI. It may have happened at some point in the past but I still haven't seen one in the entire decade haha

Re: OT: Kudos to Refs

It's funny because I've seen some people on here directly blame the refs, and only the refs, for that loss (ignoring what the team did to lose the game, essentially). Now, those same people are coming on here and congratulating a perfectly officiated game. I've even seen people go so far as to say that the good officiating won the Saints the game (essentially ignoring everything the Colts did to lose it and the Saints did to win it). Did I offend you when I said that? If so, is it because you were one of the people that said Scott Green cost us the game?

Not only do I think the refs lost us that game, but I know the Patriots believe that too, since Matt Light laid it out blatantly.

Are you really so incapable of understanding that one ref crew would make bogus calls in one game and then do a fine job in another? Why would that be contradictory?

That's like saying that the Patriots can't complain if Walt Coleman threw an unsportsmanlike flag on the Patriots for spitting on the ground when they were lining up for a 40 yard field goal to win the Super Bowl.

When I saw that flag come out in the end zone, I thought the refs were finally giving the gift of flag to the Colts. Then it went for Offensive PI. Sweet...

I should probably edit my post to say defensive PI Good catch

I'm capable of understanding bad calls happen. As does Belichick, which is why he supposedly tells the team which crew calls a tight game and which one does not. However, calls do not decide a game and, though that call sucked, it didn't decide our's either. Our O-Line's inability to block Robert Mathis in the second half cost us that game. Our inability to stop Peyton Manning from driving down the field in the second half cost us that game. Our inability to stop calling a Kevin Faulk draw play that the Colts were clearly onto by the second half cost us that game. A Maroney fumble in the end zone cost us that game. Being conservative in the second half instead of opening things up more cost us that game.

In closing, I think it's absolutely ******ed to blame a loss like that, or a loss like the Colts suffered in the Super Bowl, on officiating. A blown call doesn't cost you the game when you were up multiple scores at one point. That's just ******ed, ass backwards, logic. And, the same people who criticize the Colts players for whining about the refs being the cause of the Super Bowl loss sound like hypocrites when they support our players whining about the refs after our loss earlier in the season. If you really can't see that, then I don't know what to tell you.

The only thing ******ed is your post.

So I guess the 2008 Hocholi call didn't cost San Diego the game in Denver?

Faulk's catch is properly spotted and not ruled as "juggled" by the guy with who can't see and the game is over.

Likewise, setting Goober up 1st and 10 on the 11 is quite a bit different than 3rd and 10-12 on the Dolts wherever.

Likewise, the "inability" to stop Manning is equally ******ed. Did you actually watch the game?

Up until the Butler PI call, Goober had 7 points and two picks in the second half. What ******ed stupor drives you into thinking he was always "driving"?

He scored from the 11 and the 30.These were set up by very, very bad calls. Hardly long sustained drives.

Not exactly. You'll excuse me while I take your's apart...

Failure in logic. That was the worst blown call of all time. It is the reason Hochuli doesn't really referee games anymore. I didn't see Green get the same treatment. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I think I just saw him referee the biggest game in the world last weekend. A blown pass interference doesn't even amount to that.

Faulk's catch is properly spotted and not ruled as "juggled" by the guy with who can't see and the game is over.

Faulk's catch was properly spotted. He bobbled the ball as he jumped up and caught it and, by the time he retained posession, he was pushed passed the first down marker. Pretty much the entire world outside of Patsfans.com is in agreement on this. On top of that matter, there is a point which I explained in my first post. That point is that the Colts, at one point, were down by 17 points. That logic tells me that we should have never even been in the position to try a 4th down pass to Kevin Faulk with the game on the line. Once again, the TEAM failures lost this game. To blame the referees is just simply ridiculous.

Likewise, setting Goober up 1st and 10 on the 11 is quite a bit different than 3rd and 10-12 on the Dolts wherever.

Belichick wasn't whining about it. In fact, he supposedly prepares for these types of things all the time. He goes so far as to instruct the team whether or not a particular referee crew calls games tightly or not. Believe me when I tell you that he was probably prepared for this.

Likewise, the "inability" to stop Manning is equally ******ed. Did you actually watch the game?

Sure. I saw Manning tear apart the defense in the second half. A bomb to Garcon comes to mind.

The fact that the Colts had 330 yards through the air and had 25 first downs (despite only having the ball for 25 minutes) tells me that they were pretty successful against this defense. Face it, we blew the game in all phases. Did the referees help? Yeah. But the New England Patriots have themselves to blame for this loss. To deny that and blame it all on the referees either makes you blind or a complete homer. Considering that you're actually able to post on an interactive forum, I'll go with the latter.
