OT: Jim Kelly announces his oral cancer has returned

Sad news. I don't know what details Kelly has shared, but was he into chewing tobacco back in the day?

The demographics of oral cancer has changed over the last few years. It used to be predominantly older males with a heavy history of alcohol and tobacco use. In the last few years, it has affected many younger people, male and female with limited or no history of alcohol or tobacco use. The HPV has been found to be a cause of a great many oral cancers recently. While I don't know of Kelly's cancer ( and I wish him a speedy recovery) there could be a host of causes, and not related to tobacco.

Ne he never did. Kurt Schilling did and blamed his oral cancer on the use.

Hopefully treatments buy enough time sufficient that better treatments can arise.

I am sorry to hear your cancer returned.
Cancer sucks and the treatment sucks the life Out of you. I needed a tracheotomy during the Biopsy and 35 Rounds of radiation & 3 rounds Of chemo are no picnic. I have been feeding
Myself through a feeding tube since early January.

I just finished chemo radiation Monday & I pray for Jim Kelly.

My wife is also battling cancer.

Thanks folks! No problem. After getting over the shock & disappointment last fall in news of It's Back, the new prostrate (sic) treatments thankfully appear to be working great for now with the only side effects being lots of hot sweats like female menopause. Only bad news is Docs refuse to throw in a sex change with the hormone package. I've always felt great. Others in this thread have it MUCH more intrusive.
Lost grandmother, father, sister (age 32, 2 kids) to melanoma which I've also had. Hopefully that really big threat is gonna stay gone.
