OT: Jets going after Jason Taylor HARD

Jason Taylor is reportedly looking for 2 years $6mil, and the Jets have $1.5mil on the table, and this is still actually being discussed? Friggin' Jets fans.

Actually, the Jets reportedly have two years, $3 million on the table. Unfortunately, that is as much as they can offer Taylor at this time. I don't think he will get 2 years, $6 million; but I think he could get what the Jets are offering him in June if he wants to wait to see if the Dolphins or Patriots (both Mike Reis and Albert Breer indicate that the Pats are Taylor's second choice after returning to the Dolphins) were interested after potentially not fulfilling all of the OLB needs in the draft.

Taylor as a situation pass rusher would be immense. Good signing ny Jets, regardless of what a good portion of the Jets fans feel about him and vice-versa. They will soon kiss and make up.

Speaking of making up. The Pats making a draft day trade for Brandon Marshall would be like a virtual kiss to all of its fans.

Unless you read the article which clearly states it's just rumors and his agent seemingly has shot most of it down...

His agent stated the other day that we hadn't even been in touch this season and it appears Miami hasn't either. That is probably what is driving Taylor to try and force someone's hand or take the best offer on the table lest there be nothing approaching it come July. Since the second season is meaningless, either the Dolphins don't think he's worth $1.5M per or literally nobody else does. And if we aren't interested and Miami isn't interested then he might as well go to NJ so he can have a cameo in Hard Knocks to put on his second career resume.

Supposeldy, the Jets have asked Tomlinson to help in the courting of Taylor. Not sure what Tomlinson brings to the table or how Tomlinson can say that Taylor would be a perfect fit on the Jets Defense since Tomlinson doesn't know sh!t from shyola.

Mangini did nothing wrong. The Patriots created there own problem.

Except for his snotty personality he would be a decent coach.

BS. Mangini did plenty wrong. Including filming the opposing sidelines during the same game that he turned in the Patriots. Including filming from the sidelines during the previous play-offs.. Yet, the Jets bum chum Goodell decided not to punish them.

Also, I believe that Mangini tried to keep certain things that were Patriots property when he was leaving.

If this means Bryan Thomas gets released, that could be a positive for the Pats. Underrated and underappreciated part of the Jets success last year.

Reports are that Thomas' roster spot is secure. Their pursuit of JT is due to their lack of faith in Gholston.

If the Jets do get Taylor, it will be the first offseason move of their's that I would be impressed with. I wasn't nearly as impressed with the Tomlinson or Cromartie deal as most.

Taylor may be on the back nine but he is likely to have just as big impact as any rookie would. It can't be a good thing if the free agents are choosing the Jets over the Patriots.

I dont think its got anything to do with him choosing between those two teams. Obviously, one isnt interested.

Is he choosing the Jets over the Pats? Have the Pats even made him an offer? According to the Herald, Taylor's agent said that they haven't even heard from the Patriots. So by indications, he may be choosing to accept a contract over waiting for the Pats to decide whether if they are even going to offer Taylor a contract.

Way to manufacture controversy out of nothing.

Wow, what an incredible leap of logic. Also, I suppose Robert Kraft is selling the team to Pauly Shore and Tom Brady is hanging it up to enter the world of frestyle knitting.

All the maroons really like the move. Of course, if the Pats let Jones go and signed Tomlinson instead, I doubt they would be happy. Me, I'd take Jones any day over the running-out-of-gas Tomlinson

What I still am missing is that retaining Bodden does not help us, but losing Shepard and a a draft pick and gaining Cromartie is a huge move forward for the Jets.

But, yeah, I agree. It would be a step forward for the Jets. I don't see Taylor as big a deal as some and think he doesn't have much left in run support, but if you let him ignore the run and only chase the QB I guess he can compile some decent #'s.

I think Taylor can be an effective situational pass rusher. I don't think he will be the domaniant player he was, but he can be effective in situations especially when the Jets blitz and give him one on one match ups. Is he going to be a dominant player who gets 10 plus sacks? Probably not. But I like this move more than either Cromartie or Tomlinson especially compared to what they lost. It looks like Taylor will replace Gholston which is an upgrade if Taylor can actually take the field without falling down.

LT ran out of gas 2 years ago.

You see the whole Spygate thing and how it related to the Mangini and the Jets was at one time a mini obsession for me. And I still have a hard time when peopl blame Mangini.

I have never seen any evidence that shows that Mangini had anything to do with Spygate. If you have some evidence I would like to see it. I am not saying Mangini wasn't doing the same thing that the Pats and BB got fined for, just that he in my opinion never ratted any one out.

he met somebody in the NFL offices the week of the opener with the Pats(reported by the NY Post)...the same offices where the commissioner has his..and Jetdell was also present that day...who did Ratgini meet with?...the concessions lady?...right after this "meeting with somebody", Ratdell comes out with his (in)famous "decision". Just a co-incidence...just like Ratdell getting his first break in the NFL courtesy of the NY Jets.
