Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

...Glad that this is done for the season.....and actually happy the Jesters overpaid for him....at least IMHO.

Money is irrelevant this season. Hell, the NFL should talk to Hasbro about borrowing a logo for the year:

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

This is a good signing for the Jets because they dont need him to start and put up huge numbers. This signing is just to provide depth for them, and if he has a big season then that is a bonus for them. A very low risk signing because they dont need him to contribute as much as a team say the Patriots would. Maybe a little too much money for him, but still overall a good signing for them.

Yes, Jets fans like Gunnails and ramon will be thrilled

Holmes is the only signing they've made who concerns me, Taylor sure doesn't

He doesn't concern me either. He wasn't brought in to be a situational player. He'll definitely see more snaps than that, or at least I hope so. I watched every Miami game last season and I honestly can't see why people are hyping Taylor up so much. He's an absolute liability against the run and is pretty weak against the pass, with the exception of instances in which he's going up against a weak offensive line.

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

The Jets must have decided to go in that direction after we re-signed Pierre Woods this week. See, they're keeping up with us, not the other way around.

Hey, We got Holt and Patten and some Murell guy and a short DE who is really a DT. Beat that Jets fans!.....Oh by the way. The Skins just scored Carriker for a fifth rounder!!!!!

That #119 fourth must be really precious. We were afraid to give it up for Holmes, Scheffler and now Carriker!!!

Let's all agree that the #119 pick is going to start for the Pats in 2010 and stop the suspense. We have a surprise pick! Who is it Bill?

How old is Bills kid? Perhaps they are giving him a shot to run the off season GM venues. Gotta start somewhere.

The Jets were super thin at that position. No rush ends. Now they got one. Even if he is not that good, it allows them to take best available in draft and not overdraft to fill a need.

He's a JAG at this point. But can't hurt.

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

No, as most Dolphin fans will tell you (and as one actually did tell you in another thread), he really didn't.

Well, I will never believe a random fan's assessment of a player leaving the team. If the Pats cut Brady tomorrow, there would be a set of the fans on this board saying Brady was just a product of the system and Hoyer would replace him without any problem.

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

might work for the jets but more of a PSL based move just like LT was

But would you not trust a Dolphin fan's assessment on a particular player (especially Jason Taylor) over a Pats fan's assessment over him? There are plenty of idiot Dolphin fans out there, but there are plenty of smart ones as well. The same can be said of any fanbase. Regardless, most of them were scratching their heads trying to figure out why Wake wasn't starting and Taylor was (especially given that they are both liabilities against the run, but Wake was superior against the pass in his time in the defense).

And they think our defense is old.

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

Floorshampoo Park, NJ (AP) - The NFL Competition Committee has granted a waiver for a new test program to the NY Jets. In a bid to make the NFL more entertaining and competitive, the NY Jets will be allowed to combine rodeo and football to test fan reaction to this novel approach.

"We're going to mount Jason Taylor on Vernon Gholston," said Rex Ryan, Head Coach for the NY Jets, "Vernon will wear a saddle and bridle in addition to his normal pads, and we have a waiver to allow Jason to wear spurs for four home games and four away games as part of the trial process. We tried to get permission for a jockey's whip," laughed Coach Ryan, "but the Committee was concerned it may be used to strike the quarterback or blockers."

"We're bringing in a champion barrel racer to work with Jason and Vernon," Coach Ryan said, "that little lady and her horse can fly and cut on a dime, something we hope to see from our steed and his rider. If this works out the way I expect it will, Bill Belichick will be kissing my ring next year."

I would not trust the assessment from anyone on a player if I do not know them. If it was a Dolphin fan who posted here on a regular basis and I felt he/she was a person who can assess Taylor without a lot of bias and he knew his/her football, I would trust him/her over a Pats fan. But there are Pats fans here that I would trust their assessment of Dolphins players over most Dolphins fans on these boards.

I still think you overrate Wake too. He is a good pass rusher, but he wasn't as good as you make him out to be.

You must forget what Wake did to effectively end our second game against the Dolphins this past year. As for your above comments, one Dolphins regular on here even told you himself that Wake was superior to Taylor a week ago.

Classic! Well played!

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

Can anyone here explain how the JETS were able to pay that much given their FA restrictions?

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

How did they get away with giving $3.7 million under the 8 final teams rule?

Still haven't seen this one answered. Schefter's report "Jason Taylor's deal is two years, $13 million. But the real number is one year up to $3.75 million." makes even less sense.

Re: Taylor is a Jet

What a whore he is. He leaves, the Dolphins win the division, and he can't wait to get back there. He goes back there, they falter, and he signs with the team that looks like it's the team to beat - the Jets. I've said this time and time again and I'll say it again: Taylor is playing on his last legs. I did not want the Pats to sign him and now that he's with the Jets, I hope that locker room breaks down. Believe it or not, the Dolphins actually got the better end of this deal as they can now start Cameron Wake without having to hear Taylor b!tch and moan.

here's a hanky

Re: Jason Taylor is a New York Jet - 1 Year $3.7M

This is the first signing the Jets have made that doesn't worry me.
