The point is getting a 2011 draft pick rather than one in 2010 is that hopefully there will be a rookie wage scale by then which will curb the wild contracts given top ten picks...
Please God, let that be true. :singing:
I have zero fear of getting the 1st-2nd pick, even if the wage scale is not in by them BB will trade out of that spot so fast and in the process MAXIMIZE the value of it with EASILY 1,2, 3 OR EVEN 4 OTHER PICKS
Ummm, I want them to keep Cable.
Oh dear. I'd like to see another LT back there.
That would be SWEET. Only thing I am concerned of is having 2 second round picks (a good concern
We had a quantity draft last year and so far struck GOLD with so many players contributing and being part of the future.
My point is, if we have a quantity draft this year, I think it would be wasted picks because they would not make the team.
For the 2010 draft, I say we trade up for a QUALITY draft with few players. This team can afford to do that with the talent and depth.
Say, trade a 2nd and a 3rd for another late 1st round pick. Draft 2 good first round talents, and use the other 2nd to gamble on Tebow.
Ummm, I want them to keep Cable.
I'd rather have that than the stability that Cable is building now.

Stability? Cable has about the most dysfunctional work environment in sports. Hes assaulting position coaches, random women, and his players. More please.
Now, I am not defending him at all- I am just pointing out that I think he has the respect of the players now. I think he is only hamstrung because he is forced to start or use players he does not like (e.g., Jamarcus Russell).
For the record, Cable has not assaulted a player.
He assaulted Hanson who was pretty unpopular to start with, and an Al Davis hire. The players, upon hearing this, chanted "Bumaye Cable" when they saw him next (See: Ali, Muhammed). To me, while humorous, I think it signifies he has their respect now. That is a big part of building stability.
Ya see, the fact that the players like Cable and don't like Hanson is exactly why I want Cable coaching there, because Cable's fellow coaches clearly don't respect him, whereas Hanson was well liked by players in the league. They backed the guy as a solid worker, good football mind, good coach. The Raider's players are a bunch of misfits who wouldn't know a good coach.
Are you kidding me? Hanson is a big time ass**** he was suspended by Lane Kiffin.
Hanson was demoted to defensive assistant, and later played a role in getting Lane fired.
Nobody likes him because he is a snitch for Al Davis.
Former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's portrait of Hanson seemed to confirm Hanson's relentless pursuit of his dream job.
"He doesn't sleep at night, he just studies, studies, studies," Ryan said Aug. 8, 2007. "And this guy was hired to (break down opponents) for us, personnelwise, and he's been tremendous. Smartest guy. Like I say, 'Man, you might be the smartest guy in the National Football League.'
Known for his intense work ethic and aptitude in breaking down opponents’ tendencies, Hanson was a highly regarded offensive assistant during a three-year stint with the Minnesota Vikings from 2003 to 2005.
“Randy Hanson’s a great coach,” said former Vikings center Matt Birk, a perennial Pro Bowl selection now with the Baltimore Ravens. “He would break down opposing defenses for us, and he was outstanding. He’s an extremely hard worker. That used to be the joke – he never stopped. He’d sleep in the office and watch every bit of tape he could find.”
Added former Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson: “I really enjoyed being around him. He brought a lot of flavor to the room and to the field, and I thought he had a lot of insights into game plans.”
After spending the ’06 season with the St. Louis Rams, Hanson was let out of his contract to join first-year coach Lane Kiffin’s Oakland staff because, he says, then Rams-coach Scott Linehan was aware of his devotion to the Raiders. In Oakland, he worked as an assistant secondary coach in charge of third-down defenses and impressed his fellow coaches with his knowledge of opposing offenses and his ability to convey his insights to the players.
“He knows what the opposing team’s gonna do before they know what they’re gonna do,” said one former Raiders assistant who worked closely with Hanson. “That’s how much tape he watches. And he’s a damn good football coach, too.”
No, I'm not kidding you. I read an in-depth report about Hanson and you should read it too, because he was an up and comer who had a lot of respect from a lot of players who still call him.
This isn't a secret. The guy knows his football and knows it well. A lot of players elsewhere in the league swear by him.
Kiffin was the arse, not Hanson. read up on him.
