Sorry to put all this out...as many on here know I coach youth football. As we all get excited about Revis and Browner I have to get a bit stupid about my spring tackle team. The league is out of Richmond, VA, I spent last weekend in Dulles,VA at the Glazier coahes clinic. It was awesome. I have many PDF's from folks like the Alabama D Line coach Lance Thompson from the weekend if any of you want it.

I am excited about the 14U team I am about to field. My starting 3 DL's are 6-1 215; NT 6-0 300lbs, 6-3 210 at 14 years old. One of the kids older brother is a DT at LSU. My LB's average 170 lbs. My Stafford Tide team will at a minimum be a huge team.

I know you guys probably don't care, but man as a lifelong Patsfan poster I can't help but express my excitement for this spring team.

My LB's average 170 lbs.

For a youth team, it sounds like you very well should be excited. Looks like lots of size. I can't believe how big some of these kids are these days.

Good luck, and let's hope none of them turn on you with some of those numbers

Your 6'0 300lb NT... would he be an upgrade to Vellano? :p

I'm not ****ting ya, he has feet like Sapp. But he's lazy as ****. He can move like you wouldn't believe. He's our Wilfork. Just costs a great deal under 11.7 mil.

Gotta be something related to the hormones in the birth control pills or something, I swear. These kids are getting to be huge anymore. Hell, I'm barely 170 lbs now :)

It is numb how big these kids are these days...I have a 6-1 165 pound corner who can jam like a bastard who hasn't had a meal in a month. Its absolutely stupid the size these kids have. I have the best 24 kids three counties in VA have to offer. Several of these kids you will be watching on Saturday's on your TV, at a minimum. I think two of them will be playing on Sunday's in 2022.

Can't blame you at all for being excited or posting about it! Last season was my first year of coaching youth football and for me it was a blast. I wish we had spring ball here.

And I also went to a Glazier clinic in St Louis, which was 3 days of awesome. I got tons of D notes from Mizzou's DL coach (who LOVES Michale Sam, BTW...after all the tape he showed us I want him in a Pats uniform) and Indiana's Defensive Coordinator. I also sat in for one session of Kevin Gilbride's teaching, but by the end of that hour my eyes were crossed. That part of it was way over this 10U Defensive Coordinators head.

What kind of defense do you guys run? Last year for us was kind of a mess because I got on the staff late and took over as DC halfway through the season. We went from 3-3 tap to a 4-4 but neither were really right for us. I am thinking I want to do a 5-3, but am always open for recommendations.

The laziness may explain how a 14 year old gets to 300lbs

Might want to advise losing some weight for good health regardless of football

Learning to put it on is easy - learning to take it off requires discipline. As a tall kid who was never all that great at basketball it's also good to be wary of putting pressure on kids that LOOK the part of a football player but just lack the talent, interest or awareness (I didn't really understand the chess game of football as a 14 year old myself)

Having just finished coaching 6-8 year old basketball myself I give you credit for your service and enthusiasm! For that age group I'm really focused on teaching them confidence and fun more so than basketball - and most importantly how to play as a team!

How is that height weight combo possible for anyone athletic at that age?
