I grew up idolizing him when I was a kid on the ice rinks and I did a few fund raising events alongside him when I was playing junior hockey. He was a no nonsense guy like few I have ever met. RIP Mr Hockey.

Great, great,great man.

His hockey career was incredible as a human being he was a gentleman.

Married for 56 years up to her passing a few years ago. She was also his agent.

That's loyalty.

When i was 18 i was working at a gas station in CT (about 2years after he played for Whalers and then retired for good) and he pulled up to the full-serve line.

I made two self-serve paying customers wait while i scrubbed the hell out of his windshield. I dont even think it was dirty, IIRC LOL. I was just like "Is there ANYTHING else I can do for you Mr Howe. " but i didnt ask for an autograph or anything (except for the credit card), I dont think the boss ever saw me so respectful to a customer.

I wonder what event that was. A case could be made that each was the greatest to play his sport, at least at the time the picture was taken.

Just looked it up Howe only accomplished the "Hat Trick" twice in 32 years. He did have over 40 points at the age of 51. Amazing
