OT: Giants' Use of Unregulated Walkie Talkies

yes, unauthorized communications is a problem. The suggestion that they were bypassing the 15-second rule is the only thing I was taking issue with.

True, but the unauthorized sideline communications are a problem. Remember when what's-his-face from the Browns got hammered for texting? Or did I dream that?

yes the GM was suspended for 4 games

Were anything to happen (yeah, I know) we can be sure Bobby Kraft will intercede for him.
Please Sir, may I have another?

I can almost hear archstanton54 coming to give you a dislike as we speak.

grumble grumble...if it were the Patriots...rassin' frassin...goodell sucks...mumble mumble integrity...blah blah blah blah blah...

Is this a Joe Pesci impression from "Home Alone"?

How could the Giants sideline to helmet communications fail at a game played in their home stadium? I've been led to believe that the only way that can happen is if the home team sabotages the communications of the visiting team. Were the Giants cheating themselves? Or could it be that it's completely realistic to expect occasional issues when using electronic equipment outdoors, at night, in December, when there is precipitation.

Without getting into the walkie-talkie issue, I'm sure there were Cowboys, Giants and general NFL fans who saw the reports about the communications issues and just shrugged their shoulders. However, the next time a team complains at Gillette, they'll forget about this incident and assume something underhanded is going on.

being sarcastic, but maybe the "circus-fication" of the League is on purpose. The sport itself is weakening because it is inherently violent and the concussion thing has come to light. Parents are not letting their kids play as much. Maybe with enough forecasting they can see a day when the "entertainment" has to come from more than just the "action". Maybe the coaches and owners have to become characters, the refs become clown-like caricatures, etc. All kinds of "Villains and Heroes" both real and made up become necessary... And the league itself will be like a Barnum and Bailey Circa circa 2050 or so.

In the game thread yesterday I made a point about this. IIRC, the announcers said they were using the walkie talkies to communicate with the QB.

I may have misheard it or maybe they were simply wrong, but if that's the case, I'm in the camp that considers an illegal method of communicating with a player a big deal. (I also found it very strange that the QB's helmet was geared to receive a walkie talkie signal, so I'm not sure I buy it that McAdoo was talking to Eli).

Oh, wow. I just checked the internet...everything's scrubbed clean. All they have is a picture of McAdoo talking into his hand....

They replaced the walkie talkies with guns.
