Good write up today by Peter King and I can relate to it knowing someone with a problem. It is a really terrible thing.

It’s amazing how fast Goodell and the league changed their tune on sports betting. Money talks I guess. Should be interesting to see what happens to the league if they uncover their own Tim Donaghy.

I never understood their opposition to gambling. Awful lot of money making opportunities.

Nothing happened to the NBA so I imagine nothing would happen to the NFL.

Its all one integrated conglomerate for the NFL at this point: the live game, the streaming, the merch, fantasy, gambling...these guys will make sure they can influence, if not control, all of that.

So many gambling apps. Legal here in Colorado. Advertising was relentless last season. The man does not care. Sports gambling, scratch tickets and Powerball all taking advantage of the poor. God Bless America

And the NYFL is fixed...

I agree that gambling (in general, and as it specifically impacts the NFL/sports leagues) is problematic, but I have to ask: Did you actually read the article you shared? It’s not written by Peter King; it’s a guest writer that King made space for in his regular column while King is on vacation. This is established immediately at the beginning of the article.

Yes I did, my bad. Peter King's column and not actually him.

For years there has been a casino directly across the Super Dome in New Orleans. They did not have a sportsbook, but that is changing across the country. It used to be that if you wanted to place a direct bet Vegas and Atlantic city were your only options.

Vegas and the NFL were already married at the hip.

Vegas has the inside connection on injuries etc used to set the point spreads.

Even Atlantic City wasn’t an option for sports gambling until fairly recently.

Without gambling the NFL would lose A LOT of viewers and fans of the game. It's 100% fact. They need gambling to continue and grow, badly.

Wait. So are you saying the poor have no self-control?

Yep lots of sports shows reference the lines

The day the Bucks won the NBA championship the Bucs were at the White House

Gambling becomes a lot easier when you are aware the games are scripted, and they are.

Buffalo put 47 points on NE in the playoffs and that was the Bills 47th win all-time vs. NE

I have several addictions, gambling and sex being the biggest two.

I could stop anytime, but I was always taught nobody likes a quitter.
So pumped for survivor pools. Found another big one I'm hoping to get another invite for that's double the $ the one I usually do.

We had fun in the gambling thread. It would be nice to get some more discussion in there.

This isn't even debatable. Fantasy football has taken over the bottom line or w/e graphics we see showing stats of several different players.

Tough to pin point the amount of money on each game but FF has really upped the anti. Along with props at sites. I mean futures, straight, teased, parlay, 1st QR, 1st half, daily fantasy, survivor and other pools.

I'd love to sat America has a gambling problem but go anywhere in the world and people will be gambling on something or someone.
