Why did they hire this guy, who is a walking scandal and has no NFL experience, to lead a rebuilding process? I missed all of it…did everyone think they were wrong to hire him?

The owner, Khan, is by all accounts a very brilliantly successful businessman, worth about $9B, and he made all that money himself from humble beginnings (with his first days in the US staying at the local YMCA and working as a dishwasher). I don't think Khan takes on ventures that lose money. I suspect he saw $$$$ dancing before his eyes at the idea of hiring the much admired and lionized ex-University of Florida ( < 75 mi away) head coach on his team and filling his stadium and luxury box seats with fanatic University of Florida fans, fat cats, and boosters. And, if Meyers has experienced some controversy in the past, you know what they say: "There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary."

Meyer was delivering on the free publicity with actions such as trying out Tim Tebow (not coincidentally also much beloved by Univ. of Florida fans). Probably Khan wasn't expecting quite this latest type of publicity though.

If Khan had a brain, I'd say he was gambling on the fact that it will be too much for Urban to bear when he realizes how much he's lost the locker room.

And firing Meyer in week 5 won't make a difference anyway....you can always do it in December when you know who the "free agent" coaches are going to be and get a jump on that.

As this forums resident Jags fan, all I can say is that we are already at rock bottom so any embarrassment from Urban resigning after five games would be far outweighed by the collective sigh of relief and renewed hope for Trevor’s future.

It’s honestly not that much fun to watch football anymore.

I was a bouncer at the Foxy Lady strip club in Providence back in the late 70's...FWIW most of the girls are pretty damaged upstairs although I remember two girls who attended Brown University and were psych majors. They made pretty good money in those days.
