Never thought I'd say this but I'd take him. He's better, even now, than anything we've got.

On second thought, no. Might put the tank at risk.

He is better than anything they have, but he’s on a 1 year deal. They’d be claiming him for 3 games. Sorta silly. I guess they could do it with the intention to get a look at him and have his negotiating rights until March.

I'll stand by my second thought...

Not looking for it but wouldn't complain if we gave him a try

I would have expected people to be comfortable ignoring any WR with fewer yards this season than Polk.

Then again, somebody did suggest Kadarius Toney a few days ago despite him having zero catches this season.

Three great years to start his career and he was able to leverage those three years into seven more lackluster seasons.

I've never been a big fan of OBJ as a guy, but I was actually shocked how bad he looked when we just played in MIA.
He was slow, and even poor route & hands in a couple important moments for the Dolphins.
Now, he's likely a lot better than Parker or Juju were going to be this year (or even last), but at this point it doesn't seem worthwhile, we're not in the running for anything and he's not at a point we'd want to build with him for another 2 seasons.

Garrett Bowles signed 4 yr extension with Denver

His rookie year was unreal. 70% catch rate and 10 yards per target with high volume. Still great in year 2 (60%, 9 yards per target) but a step down. Then another step down in year 3. Meh/aight ever since. Not sure if it's injuries that robbed him of what made him special but he sucks now.

He'd still be wr1 for us though.

He hasn't been the same since the fractured ankle. It's time to hang them up.

He's washed, he isn't people anything at risk lol. No reason to claim him. Play the young guys

I know Miami has a wealth of receiving options that would take away from OBJ and limit his catches, but the guy has 9 catches on 18 targets for the entire season. That is putrid. The guy is toast. He should retire immediately.

I do not want the Pats to pick him up. At this point, KJ Osborn is a better receiver and the Pats just cut him.

Let the rookies play and let them sink or swim. The season is over. It is time to evaluate the players and figure out who to keep and who to move on from after the season.

Odell Bust Jr.
A Bust?

His first 3 years in the league here were his stat lines:

2014 91 Rec 1305 yards 12 td
2015 96 Rec 1450 yards 13 td
2016 105 Rec 1367 yards 10 td

I took all of the Patriots wide receivers drafted in the first 3 rounds since 2006 and accumulated their rookie season statistics. I then compared to Odell's rookie year stats.

Chad Jackson - 13 rec 195 yards, 3 td (2006)
Brandon Tate- 0 rec 0 yards, 0 td (2009)
Taylor Price- 3 rec, 41 yards, 0 td (2010)
Aaron Dobson - 37 rec, 519 yards, 4 td (2013)
N'Keal Harry- 12 rec 105 yards, 2 td (2020)
Tyquan Thornton - 22 rec 247 yards, 2 td (2022)
Ja'Lynn Polk - 12 rec 87 yards, 2 td (2024)

7 Patriots WR's drafted since 2006: 99 rec 1,194 yards 13 TD

Odell Beckham (Rookie Year)- 91 Rec 1305 yards 12 td

In essence, Odell's rookie year was able to match the same production that 7 highly drafted patriot wide receivers posted combined during their rookie years.

I don't ever want to hear you praise one of our wide receivers ever again and yet call Odell a bust. He puts our WR's to shame!

They have already sunk emphatically. Patriots front office is already trying to conduct damage control and defend their hopeless ability to identify WR talent.

I thought he’s a beach guy..
