All these QBs are likely going to be available either as free agents or trades. This coming year draft QB class have lots of question marks. If you get in a pinch, who will you like your team to sign to compete as starter?

Is that a trick question?? Who are the alternatives??

This is upcoming Draft is one of the worst for Teams looking for a QB. I'm not that sold on Mendoza though he seems like a nice Kid.

Wilson brings his mom along and is good for a few chuckles. He will also guide your team into position to draft a top college QB as surely as any of the others, which would be the goal of a responsible GM in that situation.

Watson: No, for varying reasons.
Tua: No, not good.
Murray: No. Any QB having to be told to watch film is not going to be a winning QB or a leader that I want as the face of my franchise.
Wilson: I assume you mean Russ. He's washed.

Alternatives you asked? Pavia, Beck, Simpson. You find yourself drafting around pick 12-16. Go with these or go with my wonderful list in title?

Are Tua and Watson actually available from a cap hit perspective?

Wilson is passed on the depth chart in Miami so I think he is toast. Wouldn't mind seeing his mom in the stands once in a while though. Might be the right choice for a 2026 tank a thon to land the top overall pick in 2027.

Boy this really puts in perspective how lucky we are to have landed Maye. The stars aligned for us to go 4-13 the year there was a loaded QB draft class.

it’s a way better draft class at QB than last years.
Im high on Mendoza, but like any young QB he needs to go somewhere that can actually develop him.
To the original question.
Watson is cooked
Murray has no height, and no heart.
Wilson will never start in this league again
Tua has played the best out of all them in the last few years (Watson use to be elite, but that was many massages ago).
If, huge IF, Tua could land in an offense and with a coaching staff like the Rams or SF he could still be effective, but not many of those cushy spots around

Watson, Murray and Tua only got worse after landing big contracts. Watson is washed up and the latter two have commitment concerns. Zach Wilson is the mystery box. We’ve only really seen him play on the Jets and they’re an incompetent franchise. I think Wilson needs to sign with a QB whisperer who can rehab his value (Rams/McVay, 49ers/Shanahan, Vikings/O’Connell). Worked for guys like Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Daniel Jones, and it looks like Mac Jones may have played himself into a future starter role after filling in for Brock Purdy this season. Wilson will also be cheaper than the previous three since he hasn’t proven anything at the NFL level yet.

Watson and Tua's cost to cut are too onerous for their current teams to cut them and Murray's is damn close. Cleveland, Miami and Arizona would have to eat a serious portion and include draft picks along with them to get another team to take on the contracts. That leaves Zach Wilson a FA at season's end as the only realistic option so I'd go with him or go without

I wasn’t considering financial likelihood of any of them being cut, traded.
Just on pure performance Tua seems like the only one that could be a serviceable starter still if, HUGE IF, he landed in an extremely QB friendly environment

If Stiddy didn’t re-sign with the Broncos I bet he could make a lot of money this offseason. Could be a fringe starter.

There were rumors in the New York Post in 23 that Zach’s Mom was sleeping with Woody Johnson so Zach could keep his job.

I only see one GM in this thread who’s keeping his job

I'm surprised Miami went went Quinn Ewers over Z Wilson.

I think sitting might have helped Z Wilson recalibrate some. He also have that former Jet QB angle going for him ie... Geno Smith and Sam Darnold.

He’s got some maturity problems that he hasn’t shown any insight into. He got passed over to start for Miami and a benched Tua is the emergency back up over him.

Geno and Sam at least were adults

While I agree with most of what you said, I wouldn’t take Ewers starting over him as anything more than it is.
Miamis season is over, losing helps their draft position and they wanted to see how Ewers looks because they have big QB decisions to make in the offseason.
I’m sure Wilson would’ve given them a better chance to win last Sunday, but they know he is not an option to be a full time starter.

As with Smith and Darnold any team signing Wilson next season would also have the benefit of not being the team after the Jete, being in Miami this season has given him someplace to get some of the Jete stank off. Smith had a one year pit stop with the Chargers and Darnold landed in Carolina for 2. No one wants to be the team after the Jete, better to let some other place absorb the toxic stank and then you can be the team after the team after the Jete. Science

So good!
The Jets stink is so bad it takes at least 2 additional franchise stops to get rid of most of it.
It’s like the BO smell in Jerry’s car!
