OT:Celtics vs Pacers

Rooting for the Celtics to get to the finals, even if it means they have a shot to break the tie with my Lakers.

I'll go with the Mavericks in the West.

Just have to win 1 on the road
This way they can rest Kristap”s for the Finals

Looking through the stats ... nothing glaring in there ... to me it was playing the entire 60 minutes without letdown which led to minor statistical advantages across categories ... one glaring area is to see how much we attacked them in the paint ... a nice scheme to see from Mazulla ... he has grown as a coach ... for sure. He stayed away from needing Tillman which was nice considering he just lost his dad ... could well have been exhausted going through that loss. Horford had more bounce ... blood doping anyone lol. We shot more free throws ... one advantage ... see how that goes for game 3.

One thing that shows itself here is a team built solidy to exploit advantages ... Pacers play crazy fast and our defense is up to the task for that scheme. Good thing we are not reliant on the Green Kornet ... not his type of series. Having the dual defensive threat of White/Holiday hurts the Pacers spacing schemes.

Game 3 the Celtics will need 3rd gear defensively ... damn the Pacers play fast ... unreal.

The Haliburton injury will be very damaging to the Pacers. They may squeak out a win in game 3 or 4 but after that they are done.
KP needs to be ready for the finals though. It will also be a must moment for Tatum to prove his worth being named to 1st team All-NBA.
If not now, when?

Tatum in the first game was 36/12/8 and was a +20, and was ROUNDLY criticized by most of the media for his performance.

In the end none of that means spit, but the lack of fairness just PISSES me off.
Somehow the mediots have the Celtics as being both a superteam and also completely devoid of actual stars.

Tatum is actually playing the best basketball of his career, IMO. Yeah, his jump shots aren't falling....but his man on man defense has been rock solid, he's dishing out the ball a lot more, setting hard screens, rebounding a lot more, and drawing defensive coverages.

Thank you, I wish more people saw this. Tatum is doing a lot at the top of plays and even when the ball isn't itln his hands. He's working to create as many opportunities for everyone.

Saw this breakdown on Reddit that I thought captured the whole "WhY HaVeN'T tHeY gOnE SmaLL? BrissEt is leGiT! JoE is DumB!" talk pretty well with actual strategy.

I think Tatum is a better player all around than last season, for sure. I also think he is playing good but by his standards he can be even better. The first half last night was the worst he has looked in a while.

I think the confidence in his three point shot has a tendency to affect him mentally. The criticism has been stupidly over the top though.

This afternoon Tony Mazz alluded to a possible personal issue for Tatum.
Hopefully his support friends help him through it ... that is of course if the info has some merit.
He does kind of look distracted and distant ... these are young men ... he has immense pressure from the media.

They attacked the paint last night ... was nice to see.

Another WOW!!!

Holiday is such an upgrade over Smart.
Addition by subtraction. Calm and under control.

Smart would have figured out a way to make a key turnover down the stretch.
They were never going to make it to the next level with him playing hero ball.
I was thrilled when they got rid of him.
He's a shooting guard masquerading as a point guard.

I was amazed that he even played 38 minutes ... he was sick and yet turned in a +6.
And average Al turning back the clock ... Tillman a team high +12 on 2pts scored ... Tatum lights out

Great comeback. That Holiday steal was clutch. And Tatum’s behind the back bounce pass from underneath to Horford in the corner for the three was absolutely stellar. Watching the after game interviews it seemed to me Rick Carlisle was on the verge of tears. After this win I would not be surprised by a sweep.

The only way the Celts lose is if they come out flat.

That was Indys best shot and Boston won in the final seconds.
