So factor this is probably a 4 game suspension, NFL finds out Pats pick him up, NFL drags their feet for three weeks before suspending him and he never plays a game this year...just sayin.

Plus I dont think he has been very good this year...could be a lot of reasons why of course. 33 catches, 446 yards, 4 TD's..its ok I guess.

last time i checked as long as the appeal was active the player can play.

If the league wanted to be ****s they could keep him out of the playoffs though.

I doubt that he will clear waivers mostly because whoever claims him gains a chance at a compensatory pick. For some teams 880k can be a small investment for a potentially free 4th rounder.

I have zero problem with anyone that wants to bring him in now I just don't think it's a good idea. That's all. Bring him in in the off season he can get a sense of what he has a fresh start. Branch learned of a positive test about two weeks ago and immediately appealed because it was evident there were marijuana traces in his system from a previously failed test, according to a source. Branch was already in the drug program, so he can be tested up to 10 times per month. The source said there were no new traces of marijuana in Branch's system to trigger a positive test.

In other words, the reason that Branch didn't get suspended for weed is because he'd already racked up a failed test for weed, and the test that led to the suspension was given to him before the drugs in his system from the earlier failed test had cleared.

I really loved Floyd at Notre Dame. Don't see how he isn't claimed on waivers, though. His potential is too high to make it through, I would imagine. He may not be a superstar, but he's had 1000 yard seasons before. He's a big bodied, proven receiver. He'll latch on somewhere.

Are you actually suggesting that he'd be able to come here and pick up our system this year? He'd contribute very little with minimal opportunities. Look no further than some of our other emergency WR signings.

It would not be precedent setting to bring Floyd in, unless the precedent you're talking about is the precedent of this being the first time the Patriots were bringing in a wide receiver named Michael Floyd.

Since your precedent claim is in regards to a DUI bust, it's not a precedent.

Whalen would have just one extra week to learn the offense, so... no, it's not a valid reason, in general. Now, if you're opining that Michael Floyd, specifically, will be unable to grasp the offense, the obvious response to that is "That evaluation is one the team will have to make".

And, for the record, imo, the biggest Floyd question is probably "His catch rate is below 50% this year. Is that something Cardinals related, or is it about Floyd?"
