re: OT: Browns fire Mangini's ops assistant Erin O'Brien - followed him from Pats

The Plain Dealer piece strongly suggests that Mangini's job is in jeopardy, and the paper even reports that Bill Cowher is looking to return to coaching in 2010. Things aren't looking good for Mangini.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. From Mangini to Mangenius to Mangina to...

You should put an apostrophe S after Mangini. It looks like Mangini was fired.

Yep, thread title is misleading. At first glance, it looks as though Mangini was fired.

Yes...I agree it does LOOK like that...and I had to scratch my head..why fire the bum the night BEFORE a game????
Well..she followed Mangini from NE to NY then to Cleveland..and she MAY have a lot of info on the bum...and being FIRED as she was maybe she will spill the beans on poor eric...HOW would that be??? Being MORE a personal asstnt she may have some damaging info...maybe?? Poor eric...and BernieK, ex-QB was hired by the owner to have a look see at the team...ALL EYES on EM.....Nowhere to run to?? Nowhere to hide?......It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy....lol

Mangini's power erodes in Cleveland... the clock ticks, doubt if he will ever have the title of Head Coach in the NFL again..

re: OT: Browns fire Mangini's ops assistant Erin O'Brien - followed him from Pats

the disparity between mangini and mcdaniels is amazing. lol, mangini really screwed the pooch. although tbh im not sure sticking around an extra season or two woulda really fixed it. i think he's just not fit to be a head coach in general

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. From Mangini to Mangenius to Mangina to...

...to high football coach and gym teacher. Then again, I wouldn't want him teaching kids anything.

I think people hate Mangini more than they need to. He's not very personable, but we don't need to deal with him up close on a daily basis.

Having said that, I was very surprised that he had found a gig so soon after his last job. Obviously, he has trouble being a "leader of men" and that was evident right away when he got the guys to travel by bus to a camp (and several instances with NY).

In short - Browns' fans can say what they want about Eric... truth is that since the team was reborn in 99, it's been a colossal failure on the field. That speaks to the crappiness of the ownership and the lack of leadership in management. Mangini has been there since spring... who's to blame for the 9 years before that ?

By firing Mangini, they are just continuing to admit what everyone knows : the front office blows. But, I suppose getting the Chin would be a legit step towards winning - players would respect him as a real coach, a proven winner, and he doesn't strike me as someone who'll put up with shananigans.

Whoever hired Mangini should be fired as well. I mean, what did they think they were getting? The browns took 5 steps back into oblivion when they hired Mangini. Shameful.

re: OT: Browns fire Mangini's ops assistant Erin O'Brien - followed him from Pats

Im still in shock that he got a second chance this early, was it all his fault in New York??? No Tannenbum deserves the blame, because they cut chad pennington for farve, and might have beaten the dolphins that game ... But Mangini did not deserve a second chance this soon, and if he is fired, he will not get a thrid..

Speak for yourself ... I think he needs to be hated more. When the Brown's can him that will be 3 fanbases that loathe him. That will put him at the top of the hatred pyramid ... no small feat I'll tell ya'.

I can support that. I admit that I don't actually HATE him, because in my book, hate is a terrible emotion, to be reserved for those who are the real monsters in society. Once you go down that path, it's hard to keep it on the level.

Having said that, however, I do LOATH the man and all that he has done. He's left a trail of ill-feelings, broken promises and shady dealings wherever he has gone. It's hard to find something positive about a back-stabbing, double-dealing snake, so I won't even try.

He made his bed. He can sleep in it.

I love the intensity. I don't share your hatred, but I guess if you're gonna hate, you might as well go all out. Let's crowbar his shins !

If he's fired in Cleveland, could you imagine...........

Oh no, I can't even write it.

(but Dean Pees is getting older and it would be quite the entertaining circus.....)

There's no truth to the rumor
that when Eric is walking in downtown Cleveland male dogs lift their leg and wizz on him

There's always a spot for him on the Raiders. They're the NFL's version of the island of misfits.

Re: OT: Browns fire Mangini's ops assistant Erin O'Brien - followed him from Pats

mangina put such a damper on 2007 and now its bad karma coming back on him

Does anyone know this Erin O'Brien? IE how old she is, what she looks like?

I have an old long lost acquaintance with that name, I wonder if it is the same person.
