Osborne also wants out

This is a team devoid of talent up and down the roster. You start cutting guys and what? Replace them with street free agents or third and fourth stringers?
Would they be any worse than the multitudes of their own players from a 4-13 they re-signed in the offseason?

We going to have to overspend to get players until we are good again(hopefully)
I mean, the track record of the ones they brought in this offseason - it was 1 (Gibson) out of the 7 or 8 FAs they signed? Who are they overspending on?

Years ago I was down in Foxboro when they were building it. Got to know a couple of his latchkeys. They said Kraft was impossible to work for. Imagine. An A type personality hard to work for. The difference I claim is that Bill was the general, Robert the politician. Politicians suck
Perfectly put. I had a chance to meet some big name players over the years myself due to my work. The one player I absolutely loved was rosie colvin.. he said bill was nothing like he is on TV, he's funny, he's witty and he knows everything about the players. RK is a businessman.. there aren't to many successful people thst become billionaires that don't suck.. success breeds egos.

Pete Carrol got 3 seasons in NE with a Super Bowl team.

You're going to fire Mayo after 1 season with a 4 - 12 roster the previous season?

Good luck with that. Kraft will get ripped apart by the media.
If they lose 16 straight games, watch how quick the media turns on their pal Mayo.

Mayo needed this. He needs this adversity to become a tougher and better coach. He will learn like all coaches had to.
He's been supposedly learning for the last couple of years, last year basically being the shadow HC.
The whole 'Rookie HC' thing falls apart, when Kraft's been trying to give him the job, since they went to Israel together.

I didn't think it would be this bad. I would have thought he would have been able to pick up basic game management just from being on the staff. You can almost excuse the terrible player relations (when that was supposedly his best skill) at that point, if he wasn't actively doing things *in* games that put them in a worse position.

He can figure out practices. He can figure out gameplans. He can figure out player relations. But he should already know not to burn timeouts on defense in the 4th quarter when you're behind. Or whether or not to make a 2-score game a 1-score game in the 4th quarter when you're behind. Or being able to get to your coordinators and have them change what they're doing when it's not working. That's the super-basic stuff he's failing right now - things that he should already know.

Andy Reid can get away with bad clock management, because he is an S-tier playcaller, and relates to his players very well. Mayo does not have that luxury.

His best skill was supposed to be how he relates to players.

He seems to be relating to the players by ripping them in the media. Does he even talk to them?
When asked today about Polk and Osborn's social media posts, he said he doesn't know anything about them and has not talked to either guy about the posts but he has an open door policy if they want to talk to him.

Mayo is going to have to act at some point. His reaction to Osborne's social media post is less than ideal and Polk playing after he publicly rebuked Mayo's criticism seems to be letting too much slide. When team leaders are calling people out and Mayo isn't holding anyone accountable it is only a matter of time time the whole locker room checks out.
What action so want?

Mayo could require that he be inactive for a few games.
Mayo could cut him.
Mayo could trade for a 6th or 7th.

IMO, NONE of these in much punishment.

...how has he not talked to them about it? How does he not know anything about it? If a *reporter* knows, shouldn't he have known before that? Or another coach? Or Stacey James? Somebody?

Nope, didn't know. But he later said that players can use social media to send him messages the way that he uses the media to send the players messages. Apparently he is just not getting their messages.

I think it might be smarter to just ****ing talk to them in person instead of this toxic public cat-and-mouse game.

The street free agents would be much worse.

Good teams keep their good free agents. Teams know what they have and they retain the good ones, locker room leaders and guys who get in line with the plan. Malcontents walk, vets with nothing left in the tank walk. You want to over pay for cast offs at this point?

It sucks, but there's no quick fix.

Da Bears & the former Deadskins are so far this season on their way toward asking you to hold their beer…

LOL imagine that.. I'll say though I'll take Drake and the defense not playing well then the way it's been last few seasons.. 5TDs in 2 games. Who would have thought!
Having hope at QB is a good step forward. Let's hope this year is the bottom out year, I was led to believe that last year was the lowest of the low. We will see if Mayo and Wolf are able to identify the players worth keeping and those that aren't.

I don't really care how it affects Osborne and what would be deemed the "harshest" penalty. I care more about sending a message to the other 52 guys that keeping things in house is an order and there will be consequences.

They already have: Bedard has written of a coaching deficiency since at least the Miami game; and isn’t that when Lazar’s “mutiny” comment was made…?

He is so far behind that even if he learns and becomes 10x better, is it enough to win at the highest level in a brutally cutthroat, hypercompetitive, ultra exclusive trillion dollar industry?
