Osborne also wants out

I told them you were good, but watched your favorite team the Pats get ran on for like 20 straight plays. They were like Oh ****, a Pats fan, we are going to go ahead with that wellness check. LOL
Lol well can you call them back and tell them I got the tickets at Cumberland farms on Rt. 1 in Dedham with my fill up.

Yeah this would have never flew with Bill.
We need someone they respect like Vrabel,
I love offensive gurus like Johnson, Slowik, and Kingsbury.
But they need someone they respect, fear and proven he can win.
It should have always been Vrabel.
Kraft could bring him on now as a defensive consultant ass Hc and then fire Mayo the end of the season, interview his candidates then promote Vrabel

It may not fly with Mayo either. I mean players have disrespected Belichick publicly in the past in more public ways ("I did! D-I-D! Did!" and "Hi Shaun!"). They paid for it. Maybe Osborn will too.

The fact that he openly shared this tells me players don’t respect Mayo and his locker room.
???

Osborne is not being used and has no future with the patriots.

Would it be better for him to just accept being the #5 or #6 WR and make no comments until the next off-season. Should he suck it up so that the team and Mayo will look better.

Maybe Osborne has an opportunity to be better than being an inactive player for the patriots.

Who cares. The guy is average at best and its no big loss. They would be lucky to get a 7th rounder for him.

I do understand though. Playing for one of the worst teams in the NFL with no good receivers and you still can not earn playing time. Of course he wants out.
I am sure there are others who would rather be in a better situation.

Part of this year is figuring out who is not a quitter and who is a keeper.
This guy Ozzie Osborn is a quitter.

See ya
yup. And he would be very happy to be somewhere else.

Being called a quitter and not get any reps does NOT help his career. Moving to another team might.

Yes but he did catch a TD, and if he’s not getting reps who knows what he can do.
Interesting that Baker was going to be active but was out with an illness.
Polk is looking like Harry 2.0.
He led the receivers in reps the first 4 games and totalled 31 receiving yards

People forget that Belichick had some serious roster issues over the years especially early. The Terry Glenn situation had many in the local media calling for Belichick to be fired. And then there was the 2009 fiasco with Shaun Springs, Adalius Thomas, and others. And of course the last two years.

Belichick was able to handle most of the issues although 2009 and last year were lost causes for him and he never gained control in those years.

How Mayo deals with these issues will say a lot of about his future as a head coach. But it is tough to be a first time head coach when nothing is working right (much is his fault). You don't have history to make people have confidence that things can be turned around. And Mayo is also a players' coach and players' coaches can have their team running through walls for them in the good times, but they are more likely to lose control in the bad times because the players aren't afraid of them.

Unfortunately for Mayo, there is also much that isn't his fault.

Osborn came here on an one year deal hoping that he would be a starter and be able to showcase himself a bit to cash in next offseason. I can see why he would be upset that he has lost playing time. But it is much of his own undoing. He didn't make the most of his opportunities. The Pats initially made him a focal point of the offense, but he wasn't good enough.

If Polk can ever get his head on straight, I think Osborn is the fourth or fifth best WR on the roster. And the roster isn't that strong to begin with. Osborn isn't going to win over any other team by acting the way he is acting. He isn't good enough for them to ignore it either. If he continues to do things like posting these conversations on his social media, he could find himself quickly out of the league.

How do you accept being #5 or #6 when they keep trotting a guy out there who puts up 78 receiving yards in 7 games and you just got activated played 22 snaps and outproduced his last 3 games.

Hard to keep the locker room when “everyone is competing for their job” is lip service.

Let’em go as long as he’s willing to leave at $0 cost - after all we’ve still git T.T. to make up for his one catch per game….
I'm fine with our top 5 WR's. Yes, as is often the case, rookie wide receivers don't do well as rookies.

Surely, we expect Thornton and Osborn to be gone after in the next month. In a rebuilding year, the team decided to give Thornton a chance for a few weeks and kept Osborne until Bourne was ready to take serious reps,

The WR's in a month will be as most expected and hoped for: Douglas, Bourne, Boutte, Polk, and Baker.

Yes, Osborne or Thornton might have beaten our Boutte. They haven't. Boutte is part of the future.

Mayo is going to have to act at some point. His reaction to Osborne's social media post is less than ideal and Polk playing after he publicly rebuked Mayo's criticism seems to be letting too much slide. When team leaders are calling people out and Mayo isn't holding anyone accountable it is only a matter of time time the whole locker room checks out.

Our Front 7 already have.

I remember you calling him a Jag who will be lucky to make our Taxi squad.

A lot of people had him cut out of camp, I said it seems like Maye like him from practice reports. I wonder if Maye said he I like this guy a lot. And it's proven correct. I think they will form even more of a bond as the weeks go on because the only thing Boutte does is catch what Maye throws him. Thats invaluable.

To be fair, Polk did catch a TD vs Seattle. I can't really remember Harry doing that his rookie year.

They need to just let him go. I was specifically worried about his role all offseason. He signed a 1 year deal on a receiver-needy team. He obviously signed here expecting to get playing time to market himself again next year. They've been playing the likes of Polk and Thornton over him, neither of whom have any history of production or have looked good this year. Now they're going to play Baker over him too. Boutte as well but he's at least done some stuff on the field I guess to back it up. My guess is he feels like the team is more inclined to get a look at young players so he's not competing on a level playing field.

There's no need to keep a middling NFL WR who doesn't play STs if you're going to play young guys over him. They clearly prefer to play all of Douglas/Polk/Bourne/Baker/Thornton over him. He's the 6th guy on their depth chart, even if he should maybe be higher solely based on the field (which is more a diss to the others on the team than any praise on him, let's be clear). Just cut the unhappy player and be done with it.

But in general this is important for Mayo to manage across the locker room. It's a rebuilding year so of course they want to play the young guys but all the players in the locker room expect (and deserve) to have their careers treated fairly and be given legit opportunity. You can't just bury vets on the depth chart for under performing young players because it's better for the organization long term. You have to respect the efforts each player is putting in every day and reward it appropriately. If not, that's how you lose the locker room and create a toxic environment that ends up being a detriment to your young players anyway.

Whole heartily agree. I say let him go. He'll likely re up with Minnesota and probably felt like he should have never left. IMO the team should take Tyquan off cobb webs and allow him to build a connection down field with drake.. I mean they need to at least do that to try to salvage his career here. Boutee, pop and Tyquan could become a nice rotation for Drake.

I guess we all should feel just wonderful - I just read that the Coach stated he thinks Polk is a “ great “ player! Now if what we’ve seen is “ greatness “ so far then we’re in for a much longer period of disappointment than planned…..

Worse to me is that many times he has said that he says things in the media because he “knows players listen to this stuff and read it” and he is sending a message to them via the media. So when he calls them soft he is doing it hoping they read it themselves. Stark contrast against Bill who always pushed the team to ignore the noise and lean on one another. But also creates a problem because he can’t exactly go out there weekly and “send messages” to his players via the media but then get upset when his players effectively do the same thing by “sending messages” back to him via their social media.
His best skill was supposed to be how he relates to players.

He seems to be relating to the players by ripping them in the media. Does he even talk to them?

Oh.. I agree with everything you said.. I'm talking about internally.. RK even saying bill was the biggest a hole in his life. Alot of times personality conflicts can exist but seldom get talked about becuase winning mask everything. I've enjoyed the ride and I'm fully bracing how it is now. Becuase I know we have a QB now and the future will be bright with Drake.
Years ago I was down in Foxboro when they were building it. Got to know a couple of his latchkeys. They said Kraft was impossible to work for. Imagine. An A type personality hard to work for. The difference I claim is that Bill was the general, Robert the politician. Politicians suck
