Only 14 more practice in pads until the Superbowl..

Jonathan Kraft was on with Gino last night, or maybe Gil.. without regard he stated that according to the new CBA that there are only 14 practices with pads allowed for the whole season. 11 of them have be used up by the first 11 games and only 3 after that.

Kraft was indicating how hard it would be to develop younger players as their development, especially practice squad players, who would not benefit from that experince..

He also indicated that would be an issue that he would suspect be brought up in the Competition Committee... he intimated that this provision was realistically unworkable.

Interesting, and probably unwieldy..

it will certainly be harder for players to get a feel for game action with only that amount of practices, especially guys who have had extremely limited action thus far anyway like Shane Vereen and Ras-i Dowling.

Instead of at least limiting the discipline power of the Commissioner in return for giving back money unnecessarily, though, the players decided to turn the offseason and regular season practice schedules into comparitive jokes. When more injuries happen because techniques aren't being practiced in pads, or when more players get cut because they get lazy under the new practice regime, the players can look to themselves as the problem.
