The Rays are the Brewers of last year, young team with a lot of talent but they'll fade down the stretch.

And the Yankees don't scare me anymore, especially since Wang went down. They no longer have a formidable lineup (still a very good one though) but the pitching staff is horrendous and the whole team is old. They'll be dogged by injuries the rest of the way. They've been hot lately but they've also been playing the softest NL teams and will come back down to earth.

The Yankees will win regular season games. They play the next 11 or so games against sub .500 teams. Wang's injury hurts cuz of the innings he pitches. There isn't a pitcher in their rotation that can give them extended innings per start, to rest the pen, like Wang would. They'll win though, cuz they play softball, as opposed to baseball.

The Rays are a great story who should fade. They could last if they make a move or two at the break. They have great pitching, speed, and now, with Bartlett, solid infield defense, to go along with a very good pen. Gone are the Scott Camps of the world with their 7 Era's. They could hang, but they'll have to add some pieces. I'm not sure they will. They'd be a great fit for CC. They could afford him the rest of the year, and would simpy take the 2 picks at years end. They could also use a power hitter in the middle of the order. Um, and not Ken Griffey. He's not a good ball player anymore. Is anyone else tired of hearing his name in trade rumors? Who the heck would want him, and his salary?

As we reach the halfway point of the season, the Rays still hold that one game lead over the Sox in the loss column, and that is the only stat we need to be looking at.

I dont think they will fade, at least not badly. They are a pretty good team and I am sure they are having a good adrenalin flow right now that could carry them all the way to the final days of the season.

They have to be taken seriously and for now, the Sox have to look ahead to all of the head to head games with them on the rest of the schedule and plan pitching rotations around it.

I'm gonna take back my prediction about the Rays, they're legit. They have good enough pitching to keep them in the hunt right down to the wire.
