Excellent run player, 9 sacks last season.. creative rusher, excel locker room leader, vocal leader as well. Very happy with the pick up.

I think he's a fine signing.

My main concern is that he's going to be the ONLY real signing, and will be paraded in front of the media like KJ Osborn was last year. "See, we did a thing!"

Wise & Jennings are on alert.
Wise has been too old for 2 years. He was a captain under the last regime, but Vrabel might be able to clean house without attachments.
Jennings had moments, but at best sticks through camp as a last chance to be a backup.

Jennings is safe.. he was one of few who actually gave a f.. Last season.. I believe he's the type of player Vrabel likes. He had to play DE last season because we had no depth. Jennings should be part of what Vrabel wants.

look at the free agent market. what player available would you consider a real signing? i expect a lot of B and C level players in free agency. i will be very happy with that. get good average to slightly above league average players, good leadership qualities.

Does the guy not realize that the #1 purpose of the signing here is to bring a name player into the locker room with experience with Vrabel who will give Vrabel credibility with the rest of the locker room? It’s the same reason Parcells brought in guys like Dave Meggett and Belichick brought in Bobby Hamilton and Roman Phifer. Landry’s likely not the same pass rusher as he was but he’s still an effective player, and all the above makes it worth the overpay.

I’d say the guys that hit above that criteria:

Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, Chris Godwin, Jevon Holland, Byron Murphy, DJ Reed

Sacks are overrated. If he can get pressure while containing the edge, that's more important. (Or at least, it used to be.)

Agreed. 9 sacks in 2024, 50.5 since 2021.. Last season was his first since coming off the ACL.. quick first step, explosive get off, creative blitzer and sound technique.. Vrabel raised him as a player. We have no one currently on the roster that can do what landry does.

His numbers took a drop last year... not the sacks, but the knockdowns, pressures, etc were down across the boards... Hoping coming back to a Vrabel run system brings those numbers back up... sacks are fun, when there is a discrepancy between the sacks/pressure, makes you wonder how many of those were coverage sacks... though, the Titans D regressed last year giving up almost 100 points more than they did in 2023 (460 v 367)... so - you tell me - with that kind of ****ty D, are coverage sacks really a thing? ... Think I may be over thinking this...

Your on to something. You make very valid points. Vrabel left and the D suffered. Yeah I mean landry lines up all over the formation but mainly on the Edge as he's an edge rusher.. he also runs twist and stunts like Vrabel used to do.
You will see a more impactful landry now thar he's back with his sensei..

Roster spot being safe and playing time being safe are two different things. Jennings has 4 sacks in the last two years as a starter/consistent playing time. That's just not good for a high snap count edge defender. Maybe the underlying metrics are better but to the eye he just brings little to no juice as a pass rusher. You can find a role for him, but I think it's hard to justify playing someone like that a ton on the edge.
