There were all sorts of people saying Okorafor was a good signing because he played a lot. Also saying he only got benched because he argued with a coach. Once I pointed out how he wasn’t a good athlete and the Steelers had one of the worst lines in the AFC it always reverted back to “well he’s cheap” as if that was reason to sign a bad player. This rinse and repeated with Leverett and Jordan conversations. Now it’s happening again with some of these 2025 free agent linemen who played some for their previous team.
There is no good time to sign a bad player, there’s no justification. Not when you can give an opportunity to someone else, not when you can bring in an UDFA with some tools or a lesser known free agent who came from a great line and maybe didn’t get an opportunity to start. Considering this was Vrabel’s career arc as a player maybe we’ll get good at finding value vet free agents again.
