If Brissett puts up another well under 200yds game you gotta think Maye time is soon at hand. You can't fool NFL Defenses with Game Managers Today.
Well said.. I think he's under pressure. The running game takes the pressure of the QB.. however even when he makes thows it look like it takes so much work to complete a pass.. Jacob has taken care of the ball. It's just his limitations. Maye is the modern NFL QB.. strong arm, accurate, athletic, smart can diagnose a defense.

I can count on one hand in 50+ pass attempts he's had actual time to throw, where he didn't have to break the pocket.
Jacoby could try a 3 step drop and throw in less than 2 seconds like Burrow did repeatedly in week 1. Hit Douglas on a quick slant. Brissett can't do it. That is not the OL's fault.

It is both the OL and Brissett's limitations.

I disappeared the last 10 minutes or so when they started imposing their will on our d. For a supposedly top 5 d they played like ****. Limiting Joe burrow to **** and letting the hawks do what they did is frustrating. This is a game where if we had a better qb, he would have made up for the d crapping out and carried us. Jacoby, much as i love him, isn’t that dude. Drake is. I think if he played today the end would have been different ie us winning by a bit.
QB is the most important position and right now we don't have a decent one. Our best chance at having one is sitting on the bench.

I think Brissett's value as a career backup QB is not turning the ball over. He does that by waiting and seeing who is ridiculously open. A 3 step drop and throw to the spot where a WR should be might be too risky for him.

I'm not sure if you're vision-impaired or aren't watching the game. There is literally no time for him to do either of those things, or they would be doing those things. They can't throw because they *can't* throw, because 3/5 of the line shouldn't be in the NFL.

I was at the game. Douglas was open multiple times. He’s holding onto the ball too long. Keep posting the same drivel though.

For what it’s worth - NE is still fairly highly seeded in the AFC, around 6th. We’ll see how things shake out after the Jets game next week.
I'm excited about the strength of their running game. If they can pick up on the passing game they'll be a tough out.

Don't forget our play caller and designer AVP.

Are we even watching the same games? The dude is back there playing ****ing whodini damn near every play avoiding sacks and taking shots. The OL pass protection doesnt allow time for anything to develop. Yes, they are better at the run but I can also give credit to some rb’s balling out and forcing missed tackles at a high clip in the first 2 wks. Over 40 of those yards today were on a Gibson run where he was hit 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage but made an incredible play.
Gibson has looked very good in his limited time.

I totally agree, but the part that mystifies me about the talk this last week is where we won one game and lost today and suddenly a lot of people feel we have to play Maye to keep our playoff hopes alive.

I’m fine starting Maye if he’s ready. But he’s going to be a rookie and make a lot of mistakes. If people are assuming he’s going to step in and just do better than Brissett because he can throw farther, it’s going to be a looong season.
I really believe that if they start Maye, they are going to be worse for it in the short term. Brissett, even with his limitations, doesn't turn the ball over. Rookies do. It's just the nature of the beast.

I think with Brissett, they are going to be somewhere between 7-9 wins. Yesterday was a winnable game. AVPs play calling at the end of regulation was a problem, the situation called for more clock use. Add to that; Brissett is not a dynamic thrower, he's not going to raise guys up, so they are going to have to scheme it, like they did with TEs yesterday. I have hope that they will find these weaknesses in defenses going forward and can keep themselves in the game. I am much more optimistic than I was pre-season, they are not nearly as far away as I thought, but they are far from being a top, elite team.

I'd say that Brisset takes so long to identify where to throw the ball and then throw it that it is hurting the OLs ability to block. Brisset doesn't throw the ball in rhythm and that causes him to be pressured.
Same as Corky Mac.

Unless the receiver has a huge cushion Brisset wont dare throw the ball.

Lots of NE receiving options were open by NFL standards.

No way in hell is Seattle's defense playing lockdown coverage every single play. The best NFL defenses cannot do that.

practice reps should be interesting this week......i really thought they were looking at a week 7 start for Maye, depending on how things go, I wouldn't be surprised to see it sooner......Maybe week 5 vs Miami, depending on how things shake out with them?

not sure......it seems like they are getting exactly what they knew they were getting, i really think there was a script/plan in place regardless of outcome.......but the increase in Maye's reps last week in practice could be indicative of something......then again it could just be indicative in them trying to develop a young kid and get them reps at practice haha

Right, its all dependent on him being ready. 2025 should be our focus, whether that means playing him or sitting him.
I only want Maye ready enough to be a better option than Brissett. They look good enough this season to win with a decent QB and I don't think playing him now would harm him. It would probably speed up his progress.

Almost 200 yards rushing against a very good defense. Imagine if the passing game was more effective….
This is why I'm excited about this team. Plus, I really like the running game.

All the Patriots are doing right now with this Brissett lead offense is showing receivers why you don't want to play for them, who wants to join a team throwing for about 130 yards a game.

Aiyuk was right to turn down the money to watch his career go down the tubes getting 2 balls for 15 yards a week.
Sad but true.

Watched the game again and our oline performed worse than I thought. All of them struggled but Lowe stands out. Lowe consistently gets beat on wide speed rushes that force Brissett to step up but our guards give too much ground for him to comfortably do that. Brissett's movement in the pocket is really good but you can tell he doesn't trust his blindside and it snowballs from there. There were a few plays where Lowe did alright and someone coming over attempting to help him actually made the play worse lol.

Playcalling gets a D. We never attempted any pitch runs nor any wr bubble screens. We had speed on the field and the ball never went into their hands. Barely so any opportunity for yards after the catch besides broken plays to Henry.

I agree in the very short term it might hurt going to maye but the thing with brissett is we are more often than not going to lose these close games. They usually come down to the better qb and making the plays when it matters. Ultimately Geno made the plays, hes the better qb and more often than not the other team will have the better qb.

7-9 may be possible, id say that is the ceiling with brissett but most likely we are a 5-7 win team with him. Unless our defense COMPLETELY dominates when the schedule lightens up after the 49er game, but without improvement in the passing game there will be too much on them imo and they will also have games like today where they will have breakdowns here and there.

Id rather knock a couple games off that 5-7 win expectation with the potential to improve on it with maye than to cap our wr’s the way we are right now.

I don’t think it would harm him either. Ive seen plenty qbs get their **** kicked in year 1 and rebound. The key is if things are still that bad once maye is in we have to prioritize OL next year with no exceptions. 1 season is ok but situations like andrew luck happen when you ask the qb to go multiple seasons getting drilled.
