For what it’s worth - NE is still fairly highly seeded in the AFC, around 6th. We’ll see how things shake out after the Jets game next week.

The line was bad. both tackles were out played all day long. Pass blocking was not good at all.
Yep. And the lack of athleticism by the tackles really limits their ability to run outside zone. OC Van Pelt is forced to do power gap and inside zone.

And with no deep receiving threat whatsoever, the defense isn’t forced to defend much of the field.

I expect Jacoby and Rhamondre to both get hurt this season. Putting in Maye? Short term gain…but long term could backfire.

Solution? Get decent OTs.

The OL is so bad Jacoby did bail them out a little with a few of those plays to Henry in the first half. But then there are other moments where he feels like he's holding them back.

I'm ready whenever but I don't think this is the breaking point yet.
yup, the OL was so bad that the patriots ran for 185 yards!

Seahawks locker room after the game:

He is going to make us all cry.
Your certainty that Maye is Daniel Jones (based on them both being .500 ACC quarterbacks?) is one of the dumber things being spewed on this board.

1. Looking at the 2 years Maye started, I see records of 9-5 and 8-5 while it does look like Jones was 19-19.

2. Maye stats (27 games)
618/952 (64.9%) | 8,018 Yds | 297 y/g | 8.4 yd/a | 63 TD | 16 INT | (3.94 TD/INT) | 154.1 Rtg | 45 Rush Yds/gm | 16 TDs

Daniel Jones stats (36 games)
764/1275 (59.9%) | 8,201 Yds | 228 y/g | 6.4 yd/a | 52 TDs | 29 INT | (1.79 TD/INT) | 122.9 Rtg | 36.8 Rush Yds/gm | 17 TDs

I don't think they are playing Maye this year much at all. They need to ignore the noise and stick the plan. When he is ready, he is ready regardless of the week or opponent. I don't think it's anytime before week 12 or so unless JB gets hurt.
A rookie QB needs 1 season to work the mistakes out. And, 3 whole seasons to fully eveluate his NFL game. If he doesn't commit rookue mistakes then great. Stroud is like that.

Or they get destroyed mentally. Very few make it through that type of season. Stroud is a rarity in that regard. More have been left in the NFL QB dumpster than made it out.

OFFENSE
We have one of the very worst in the NFL.
Yet, we ran for 185 yards, had no turnovers and scored 20 points.

DEFENSE
We have one of the best in the NFL.
Yet, we allowed 20 points in regulation.

QUESTIONS
Should we expect our Offense to score MORE than 20 points with ZERO turnovers? Is that reasonable? Or is our Defense such that the Offense needs to plan to score 35-30 points to win?

Our Offensive game plan did what it was supposed to do. Yes, it would be great if we had a QB who could throw the ball deep with a low risk of interception. And, yes, even mediocre QB play would have been enough to win.

However, IMO, the Offense did enough to win.

I think maye needs to play for the simple fact that I don’t see our wrs getting thrown to more than 1-2x each per game with jacoby. We aren’t going to learn anything about them and that’s gonna hurt in an evaluation type year, prettty important in a rebuild. With maye in there my hope is also the defenses at least have to respect the fact that we might throw more than 8 yards downfield. If that means making a few mistakes in the short term and sacrificing a short field here and there for the other team so be it, long term it’ll hopefully help. This is all assuming of course that he is ready and not being tossed in there prematurely. We’ll have to trust the staff on that part.
Agree that Jacoby will do nothing for WR development. But I still think Maye's development supersedes, and if he ain't ready, then we just got to grit our teeth until then.

I could see the Jet's game on another screen at the sports bar. If will levis wasn't a total nincompoop the Titans win that game!

We have deep receiving threats. They just need a QB able to throw accurately to them, and an OL that gives the QB enough time to throw.

At least the Pats were competitive. Unfortunately, when they need to reach back for a little bit extra at crunch time, there is nothing there. With a porous OL, chunk plays are only an unreachable dream.

Agree the offense did enough. Aside from the busted coverage on the Metcalf TD, thought the D played ok. Geno just played his best game today and honestly Geno at his best is a tough guy to stop. Very mobile and was very accurate all game long.

Mentioned it in the game thread but it seemed like we did not disguise our pressure at all. Whenever we brought it, it would beat the OL, but it was clear as day where the pressure was going to come from and which receiver would be left open. Geno moved away and hit the open man multiple times for 1st downs when the D could have gotten off the field otherwise.

Just watched the sack that JB took before the blocked FG and he had plenty of time to throw it anywhere. Rham was in flat it was covered but JB should have tossed it that way so it wasn't intentional grounding. It was completely on JB.

I totally agree, but the part that mystifies me about the talk this last week is where we won one game and lost today and suddenly a lot of people feel we have to play Maye to keep our playoff hopes alive.

I’m fine starting Maye if he’s ready. But he’s going to be a rookie and make a lot of mistakes. If people are assuming he’s going to step in and just do better than Brissett because he can throw farther, it’s going to be a looong season.
It’s going to be a long season if brisket plays honestly. But I agree about him needing to be ready. I saw a post about his practice snap count with 1s at 30%. He should be getting 40 to briskets 60 since he supposedly is the starter and knows the offense. I’d go as far as saying split it 50/50. They should at least increase his reps as the season goes on. It’s only a matter of time before brisket goes down so he needs the most tbh.

How many passes to Douglas? How many passes to Thornton? I think it is zero to each. Both are really fast guys that separate early so the ball has to come out and be accurate to hit the fast guys in stride. Brissett will never do that, he is physically limited. We will keep losing like this until Maye plays.
Thornton separates early? Since when? Are we watching different teams?

But their pass-blocking was garbage.
how many times was he sacked?

Would you really be happier with 100 fewer running yards and 100 more passing yards?

If we had a QB that could connect with receivers and could release in 2.5 seconds, our OL would be up to it.

It is hard to judge pass blocking with Brissett as your QB? I'm not sure that 3.5 seconds would be enough for Brissett to be effective.

1. I suspect Kraft may pressure Mayo to start Maye, especially if empty seats start to appear in Pats games this season
2. Keeping the paying customers interested may be the only justification for throwing Maye to the wolves earliy in his first season
3. It seems as if Brissett is not eager to throw to the WRs and I expect this is because AVP and Mayo have told him that whatever he does do not turn the ball over
4. FOT's (fear of turnovers) is probbaly dictating the game plan and lack of opportunities for downfield throws.
5. I would not care if he turns the ball over 4 times a game as long as the coaching staff is trying to develop the young WRs for next year
