Can't have everything. No team does every position well. Meyers is essentially a slot receiver. Not ideal, but not bad either. We are more outside receiver based now with Bourne, Agholor, Thornton and Parker. More speed.

Why would we focus on having a slot receiver when we spent big bucks last year on having 2 TEs?

Yeah, I don't get why the Pats didn't snag a big body either in the draft or UDFA. I know the Cowpokes snagged John Ridgeway but McCall, Peevey, Noah Ellis were all available.
I just hope this means we are signing someone like Akiem Hicks or a Eddie Goldman (just a name, not a preference), as well as Trey Flowers since we didn't draft an edge guy.

The dude is major injury risk. Every game I see him he gets hurt. He tried to tough out the injuries but it limited his game to the point where he was ineffective. Bill will try to turn him into a slot receiver.

Failure to draft a big NT and an edge rusher also has me a little concerned. Both areas were exposed late last season. Also, speed in the defensive front 7 was not addressed.

Why would they?

Meyers, Bourne, Agholor, Smith can all lineup in the slot.

They can lineup at slot, be they are all outside WRs. You need a fast, shifty player in the slot. Maybe they plan on converting King (QB) to tryout in slot....

I believe Patriots were not interested in Slade Bolden for whatever the reason is, even as a UDFA.....

Really feel for that guy. I remember watching him and Lawrence in that National Championship win and thinking this guy has got a bright future in the NFL. Just unfortunate with the health problems that came about for him.
