The fumble happened with 30 seconds left in the half, not over a minute.

FWIW, the crowd around me was going crazy when they went for it there. Quite a few were yelling, "What the hell are they doing" or yelling "Take a knee".
Seriously? At midfield, 30 seconds left, you absolutely go for the throat. Unless you're cowards. And being cowardly generally doesn't work out too well in the NFL.

While I respect fans feeling differently, I'm seeing a decent amount of the pats aren't ready, this isn't their time, etc. posts. The pats are a good not great team from a roster perspective. So is everyone else in the AFC:

broncos - Nix, mediocre weapons
chargers - injuries, lack high end talent
ravens - injuries, bottom 5 DL
colts - daniel jones

The bills have zero all-pros on their roster, their best defensive player is on IR & they have the worst outside WRs in the NFL. The engine of their offense is the run game as they run it more than they pass. That plays into the pats hands and they already held them to 20 points at buffalo. Chaisson didn't play either.

First ballot HOF chris jones is not the same player this year. The chiefs defense is slow at the second level. Offensively, they are heavily reliant on rice & kelce. I would expect them to put davis on kelce & treat him like a WR. The pats could beat them especially if they can get the chiefs defense at home.

I don't think people realize that while the pats might not have a superbowl contending roster it's close to the rest of the contenders in the AFC. Homefield could be the difference & their win total is currently o11.5 -150 in vegas. Their superbowl window is open right now.
Kelce may be 36, but in football years he's 136.

For all the amazing deep balls, laser throws and scrambles, I personally think the 3rd and 5 play to ice the game was the moment even some Pink Hats probably thought, yep, this is the guy. The booth was calling for a run and I'm sure plenty of fans were too. Nope, the coaching staff trusted their man, went for the win and he pulled it off. Big, big moment for Drake and the Pats.
That was pretty awesome. The Pink Hats aren't coming back until the playoffs, tho... to prepare for Valentine's day.

Yeah. And those same teams aren’t just trading us everybody we want for whatever we’re offering. It’s like they’re conspiring against us.
I think the other teams don’t want us to win

Be careful for what you wish for, otherwise we get another Boney Thornton.

Did anyone else catch the fact that he could have won the game for KC?

Kermit threw a bomb on the next to last play of the game that hit Boney in the hands.

Those boney hands aren't very strong so the defender was able to smack it out of his hands.
Come on. It also hit 3 DB's hands too.

Is there any chance Judon could help?

He would be dirt cheap, and “coming home” might be enough to motivate him for the stretch run.
Nope.

You missed a really good era. That was when the NFL was still fun to watch. Lots of good teams who actually had identities. With that said, the AFC was still in transition from the late 90's and it was up for grabs. Jaguars were supposed to take over, but they completely imploded in the 1999 AFCCG and never recovered. AFC was weak in 2000 with the Titans being the clear favorites, but their kryptonite was the Ravens who had a hangover in 2001. Steelers looked like the favorites in the AFC with the Raiders being another possibility.

Rams were the juggernauts of the NFL and looked like nobody was going to stop them much like the Pats in 2007.

Patriots were a Cinderella team and a media darling especially after 9/11. Tom Brady was the feel good story being a 6th round pick and bringing the Pats back from an 0-2 start. They are very similar to where they are now - media didn't think they were talented, but are racking up wins with their easy schedule. Much like 2001, the AFC is wide open with teams getting weaker or having hangovers much like your Chiefs. It does feel like things are coming full circle again.

They can't hoard the cap space, so they have to some moves. I expect a big move tomorrow or in the off-season.
The immortal Ron Borges predicted the Pats would lose the SB 73-0.

I think the other teams don’t want us to win

The combination of being good and likeable is messing with team's brains like a Sith Lord. They can't do anything about the good, but they can make stuff up to make us seem less likeable.

New England, anyone?

"I was so wrong about them," another exec said of the Patriots. "I know part of it is the schedule, but they look the part. Their run defense has been really good, and if I'm buying stock in quarterbacks, give me all the Drake Maye stock there is. It's not like he's throwing to (Jordan) Addison and (Justin) Jefferson or A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith."

We might instinctively put a cap on how far teams other than Kansas City and Buffalo might advance. Should we?

"It is hard to say what someone's limit is," one of the execs said. "The freaking Commanders got to the championship game (in the NFC) last year, so anybody can go win one game."

lol. You’re slandering boney. Three defenders went up with him and tipped the ball so it barely hit his fingertips. But don’t let truth disrupt your narrative.

...Not SB level I agree but hey we are tied for the #1 seed halfway through the season

Which would be cool, except I remember being the #1 seed going into Indianapolis in 2021, with only 4 games left in the season...

And I have reached my Andy respond to limit. He can avoid the rusher with two hands on the ball. It was a point of emphasis he was coached on. He had a bad game. He will learn from it and get even better. Moving on.
Why don't you guys compromise on, "he had a bad game... for HIM". then you can note all the mistakes and the lack of his usual deep ball accuracy, but acknowledge his 260yds and 66% completion rate is a good day of NFL passing production by anyone's reckoning and we can all be friends.

For all the 'don't got for it, it's too early' crowd, the Athletic has the Pats with the best odds in the league to make the playoffs at 97 percent and third best (17.3 percent) to make the SB.

See even the NFL exec thinks we could upgrade WR some.

We are better than the Commanders were last year
