At the time, it looked like Belichick was actually planning to build around him. Then McDaniels left and everything went pear-shaped after that. Now I wonder if we were the worst possible fit for him. Still no RT, drafted G's pretending to be T's, the rest of the OL in flux, no good WR, a disaster of a coaching experiment in year 2... he needs the team around him to be effective, he's not a guy that can elevate his team and I question how much of a leader he really is.
There is definitely a talent problem. But it's a lot less noticeable if Owenhu and Strange are playing at full health.
Brown is on the tail end of his career and shouldn't be counted on as the LT and RT has been a quagmire of injuries and lack of talent/coaching. I wanted an OT high in last year's draft and I still want one in this year's draft. The two fat train-wrecks at the Tackles can and have messed things up all by themselves.
would you take justin soldier fields over macTheir only win was a very convincing one, I'd say the Broncos.
...I can't help but wonder if our lackluster FA signings are payback for all the talk of "BB isn't fun to play for" finally catching up to him. It's hard to sign good FAs if they don't want to play for you. I'm not in the fire BB camp, because I know bad coaching can be, but if I was then not having access to the best FAs is a huge hurdle to overcome. It's speculation on my part, which is all we do on here anyway.
Pre 2021 draft everyone said that this team was a perfect fit for Mac with the way we play offense and he could hit the ground running. Looks like they couldn't have been more wrong.

100%.2021 was so radically different compared to now. Back then, he was the perfect fit. You're right, those days are gone.
He is what he is. He's a good player who can't be much better than that unless he has talent around him, which is true of most young quarterbacks who aren't great/elite. The great/elite guys can elevate, the good ones need great players to elevate them or help them get to the next level.
Totally agree. I'd even say odds are also much higher that you'll find a JP Losman than a superstar in the first round. We could have traded up for Fields but there's no way anyone would have been ok with paying what it would have taken to get Fields production with Chicago so far.Absolutely agree, he's not the right guy for their philosophy here. They need to keep drafting guys and sifting through players to find a guy who can do that. But unless we all want to grow old waiting for it, they're going to need to be incredibly critical and do what Arizona did and immediately part ways with guys after a season like they did with Rosen to speed up that process. If that's what they want/need (if they're not going to spend to bring any upper-echelon receiving talent in), giving a player 2-3 years is going to drag that all out.
Beyond me why owenu is not right tackle. I guess injuries derailed him.Oh, 100% agree and I absolutely don't expect any in-season moves. And the guard positions I'm not overly concerned about because, as you said, injuries and such are the biggest issue there right now and there's at least light at the end of that tunnel.
But they need two new quality tackles. Anderson and Reiff were at best backups to begin with, and obviously it remains to be seen if the move with Sow is going to pan out albeit, it would be great if it did. And if they go to the well again with Brown, that would be extremely unwise.
Any moves for a receiver also wouldn't come until the offseason because I expect them to be sellers ahead of the trade deadline, especially since the odds are pretty good they'll be 1-7 or - should a miracle occur - 2-6. They don't have enough to warrant any additions midseason.
2nd and 3rd round should've been tacklesYeah. I go back and forth on whether we should have picked a tackle instead of Gonzo. We needed an OT really badly, but a number of them had been picked. And Gonzo falling to us was great. But our line is worse for it.
As for WR, I don't see who was the available option in free agency last year who we should have gotten who would have been better. Maybe Zay Flowers instead of Gonzo in the draft. But that's the same issue.
Really, we need to be all in on Tee Higgins this offseason.
Has anyone looked and seen with OTs were selected in rounds 2 and 3 and if they're any good?2nd and 3rd round should've been tackles
The real question is if anyone in the 2nd round and below is better than what they have nowHas anyone looked and seen with OTs were selected in rounds 2 and 3 and if they're any good?
Nope I don't like running QBs.would you take justin soldier fields over mac
