They dumbed down the offense to 2021 levels for this one.
Who cares? If Mac is OK for the next two weeks the Raiders and Mark Davis might give us a 1 or 2 for him. Dumb it down more.

I can't find the video but that could have been the case. From the CBS feed it seemed like the LB was just sitting on the route and Mac should have seen him.Montgomery ran into the LB instead of going outside. Montgomery ran into coverage last week too. Montgomery sucks. Mac did force it in, but if Mont had adjusted his route to the outside (should be obvious since there are only two options, inside or outside) the ball is not in harms way and Mont is running for awhile. The WRs suck. Mac did force it, but that throw was not completely on Mac. The INT was 100% on Mac.
If they can get a 1st for Mac Bill should be extended till he’s 100.But if Mac does not stink it up Mac might be worth a 1st or 2nd to Mark Davis. Raiders are not that bad but need a QB.
and 5 fewer injuriesShoot, just one good OT, a good QB and a number one WR could be enough to be in the mix.
They could. But it's going to mostly come the Giants, Colts and Broncos game. And the Broncos game is late and I can see Payton really not showing any intention of winning that.Worst Pats team in 30 years and they won't even get the first pick in the draft. Can't even win at losing. Brutal
We all do. It's just there's not a plethora of those guys readily available, and there's a luck of the draw since most teams that have one usually aren't ready to part with one.I want my qb to be at least better than average. Mac has not shown he can do that. I don’t think the guy I’m watching can win a playoff game. Right now he doesn’t see what’s in front of him and footwork and pocket awareness are not NFL level. Hard to see him developing those skills in year 3.
Not a bad point, making him look better without losing draft position is probably best case long term.Who cares? If Mac is OK for the next two weeks the Raiders and Mark Davis might give us a 1 or 2 for him. Dumb it down more.
They should seriously look at a team like the Giants and see if they can get a 4th or 5th for them to kick the tires on himIf they can get a 1st for Mac Bill should be extended till he’s 100.
Kidding… sorta
Conditional 3rd max but thinking 5th to 7th roundIf they can get a 1st for Mac Bill should be extended till he’s 100.
Kidding… sorta
Pats could also trade up for someone really good if they really want him. Much better to do that from the top 5 than from 14 or whateverThey could. But it's going to mostly come the Giants, Colts and Broncos game. And the Broncos game is late and I can see Payton really not showing any intention of winning that.
I 100% agree they are better than Mac. But they also need a lot more talent than we have. It's just their teams are smart enough to actually want to stack the defense and take advantage of their talentGood points but all those guys are way better than Mac. Including Mac with great quarterbacks that wouldn't get to the playoffs with this offense doesn't put him on their level. I'm not sure how the point you're trying to make excuses him.
They're not going to change or do anything for the QB here, so I absolutely believe it makes sense. When the next guy fails, I think then the message might actually get through, and maybe they won't be so devoid of talent on the offensive side of the ball. What happened at MetLife today was a reminder of that.Agreed, I just spoke about this in @sb1’s new thread about trading Mac to LV. I am sure Josh would think he could get Mac playing like his 2021 self again just by holding his hand like he used to. That might be enough to buoy the Raiders this year, and then who knows what Jimmy’s long term injury outlook looks like. At a minimum, Mac would be a cheap backup with upside for them in 2024 as well.
In NE, there’s not a lot of hope in a rebound so you may as well do some player evaluation. “Sell high” on players with value like Mac and Onwenu? Maybe.
Four tops. Five is too high.Last week I said we are a 7 win team max. This week I am down to 5.
Mac was worth at most a 5th a couple of days ago. Now he is worth a 4th or a 3rd if he continues to improive. Yes, that might his value as a backup QB.
Our best path going forward would likely be with Mac as a NEP backup, but that probably can't happen. So, we'll playe the game. Draft a QB in the top of the first, trade mac, and trade for a backup.
To be clear, we have one of the worst starting QB in the NFL's, but probably an average or better backup if another team had him in that role.
==========
There is no reason to bench Mac. Our backups are truly awful. Let mac get as much experience as he can, and then trade him in the off-season.
I can't find the video but that could have been the case. From the CBS feed it seemed like the LB was just sitting on the route and Mac should have seen him.
Before the season started I was saying that for the first time in 31 years the Patriots has unquestionably the worst QB in the division. And that's been borne out even with Rodgers getting knocked out for the season!I don't know why this is funny. Many had the patriots finishing 4th in the division.
If they can get a 1st for Mac Bill should be extended till he’s 100.
Kidding… sorta
The fact Mac stepped into that throw and had something on it helped it avoid being picked off, he got enough on it for it to be completed, and this is the first game in probably four weeks (maybe five) where I saw him step into a couple of throws and get something on them.Montgomery ran into the LB instead of going outside.
Would entirely depend on who is at the top of the draft. If the top 3 teams need QB's. You can't trade past them.Pats could also trade up for someone really good if they really want him. Much better to do that from the top 5 than from 14 or whatever
I'm still amazed that in his 3rd year Jones's throws to the flat are still half-assed lazy things. No zip at all. What the hell??The blocking was poor. Today was even worse than the last few games. But on plenty of plays, he had a lot of time.
Look, we have not very great WRs. But some of these guys were breaking open free quickly and he had plenty of time to find them. I know Thornton is brittle and he's a bad pick. The problem is, I don't even know if he's a good WR hen he's healthy, because I've seen him blow by CBs multiple times, and he is NEVER going to get the ball from Mac, not because the OL is bad (they gave Mac plenty of time the 2x I saw Thornton break free) but because Mac is either too scared or can't make the downfield throw
