He missed three passes in the second half.

Three.

He missed just two in the fourth quarter. And it should have been only one, given that the one to Parker was a dime and might have given them a shot to potentially get in field goal range. But he dropped it.

I get you're upset, but today was the first positive we've seen from him in terms of him responding to adversity for most of the season in that second half.

You saw Cunningham get crushed when the line collapsed and also had no where to go. It's beyond ridiculous, Lowe and Brown let guys blow right past them.

You're putting way too much blame on Mac today. He wasn't their biggest problem. Not even close.
It's not the ones he misses. It's the ones he throws. His gutless refusal to step into the pocket to buy an extra half second costs us a lot. On Robertson's hold of Thornton, Thornton broke free and what did Mac do? No pressure and he threw a floater incomplete. Whether he's completing 8 yarders or missing them is totally immaterial to me since he is not maximizing the team's meager talents. Look at Hoyer: he steps into throws even with pass rushers bearing down on him.

Not our biggest problem and not an NFL caliber QB. Not being the biggest problem is the new tagline for your Mac defenders. That doesn't mean he's not a problem, a problem we should have addressed in the offseason.

good luck signing free agents coming off a 3-14 season
Money talks at the end of the day, but yeah other than that NE isn’t an attractive option.

Ian let me ask you, put Mac Jones on the 49ers in place of BP, what's his ceiling/floor to you?
Tough to say. That's a stacked roster and a solid offensive line. And I do feel like Shanahan is underrated when it comes to developing quarterbacks.

Games like today remind me how devoid of talent they truly are. Watching Cunningham out there was eye-opening, because he also had zero chance to go anywhere on his sack. It's just so, so frustrating. If you can't consistently give guys time, you're dead.

And finding quality tackles is tough because you either have to sign them as FA's (and hope they want to come here) or try and draft them, which is also tough depending on who's available.

Josh knows Mac too well. No way.
Josh got to the playoffs with Mac when he had Bourne, myersm Agholar and checks notes n'keal harry.

Josh already knows he can get the ball to Meyers. Now he's got Renfro and Adams as well?

If anyone is going to take Mac off our hands its going to be josh.

Remember 2005? We made AFCG with Caldwell as WR1. How about 2013? This teams has more talent on offense than both of those.

I don't know about that. But it was a different time and a different era.

Neither of those teams had nearly as bad of o-lines as this team has. That is the biggest issue. Maybe Scar could do magic with this o-line, but this o-line can barely block.

And 2005, was a different NFL. Defenses could actually win games on a regular basis. The running game mattered more.

And 2013 had Edelman and Gronk for parts of the season. Edelman had over 1,000 yards that year. Amendola was a good slot receiver. And they had a really good third down back (which team is sorely missing) in Vereen. And the offensive line was very good. That offense was worlds more talented than this one even without Brady.

Anyone else find it funny how we all got sucked in with the Bill O’brien vs Matt Patricia offensive coordinator talk, and how Mac should be so much improved? I mean, I haven’t run the numbers but I’d habe to guess at this point they’d be better of with Fat Matt.

Guess it's time to stake a fork in them, they're done. But since there's too many games left, it's time to experiment for next season. The more Mac plays the more his value declines.

Plan should be to trade as many expiring contracts as you can and get in position to draft caleb or maye. Get a competent gm. Use all the cap space to build an ol first and then work on wr. DO NOT feed another young qb to defenses with a similar line.

Time to make a positive note, at this rate we will have 4 draft picks in the top 100...

Lol. About right.

Empty podium devoid of a leader.

Hoyer came in and, in one quarter, did what Mac couldnt do in 3 years...

Im not defending our roster, but let me tell, it been a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time since Mac has ignited anything in me. Not even a lighter goes off on his gas, at this point

The Jets have a great defense. The Patriots don't. At least not without Judon and Gonzalez. The Jets defense single handily won the game today. The Pats don't have a defense that can do that.
We had a great defense before Judon and Gonzo went down. That being said it's a long season. As I said previous injuries happen. Every team is a couple of injuries away from difficulties including the Jetes. I don't have a crystal ball...

I don't understand your post. You can keep all the good players, you have plenty of cap space. You need a new QB, a new RT, and talent at WR

So I'm not sure what your post is about.
I simply disagree. All the good players on Offense consists of Rham, Andrews, and Douglas. Who are the other dozen?

Wait. I see the flaw in your analysis. You don't factor in any cost for upgrades at OG or LT or swing OT. BTW, will it not cost to replace Dugger, Jennings and Oche?

In my thinking, I allot $20M to the defense.
======================
In a sense, you are counting on Anderson, Strange, Andrews, and Mafi. Is that at all reasonable?

You say "Mac defenders" - it's more due to the fact you act as though capable guys are easy to find and readily available.

They're absolutely not.

Look, my #1 issue - and I've said this repeatedly - has nothing to do with defending Mac. It's having the patience to try and allow him to work through these issues. My reasoning isn't because I love Mac or care beyond the fact he's the current quarterback. My entire reason is simply the fact I'm trying to avoid the churning of quarterbacks that set us back years.

If Mac goes, it could be 3-4 years (or more) before they become competitive again. That's literally the only thing I care about as a fan of this football team.

The numbers and what transpired today, while he was responsible for one mistake in the first half, doesn't change the fact he responded in the second and put up numbers that more than prove he's capable of playing.

But if they can't protect him, it won't matter. And that goes for whoever they put back there - as we saw.
