I also think part of this is that they know Marcus Jones is a bit fragile, and they might just get more value from him being primarily a punt returner who mixes in occasionally as a slot or outside CB in some packages. Gonzo and Davis have the outside covered, and if a safety is taking some slot work, plus Austin and James also being around, Marcus Jones might not really NEED to play defense that much.
Plus Marcus was exposed on one completion over his head that showed he was simply too short to defend it. He had one PR for zero yards, Chism had one for 11. If the only reason Marcus is on the team is PR and break-glass emergency CB duty would they get their most value from a trade? Other possible returners such as Pop, Chism, Larison, maybe even Baker, all provide more value overall.

. I like Treyvon to start, our Saquan Barkley! I like Jack Westover. Nobody said anything about this player. I've watched the starters play the preseason for about 4 times now, to catch up with all the new players. I guess the Jumbo packages are in. McDaniels M.O. Vrabel wants smashmouth football.I hope it works against Buffalo... Let's Go!
Westover may be our FB/TE, much more valuable than a 7th (or even 6th) WR.

Everyone does realize that Simmons has 33 inch arms right?

Sub-optimal since 34 appears to be the "magic" number.

I guess we should've completely ignored the LT position

Missouri’s Armand Membou (33.5), Ohio State’s Josh Simmons (33), Oregon’s Josh Conerly (33.5), Minnesota’s Aireontae Ersery (33.125), Ohio State’s Donovan Jackson (33.5), and NC State’s Anthon Belton (33.875)
You need to stop lying! Empirical evidence and recent research mean NOTHING! Do you understand?

Totally agree, nice pickup of another teams practice squad. He has a place here in my book.
Let's see this offense on the road....

N'Keal Harry was 6'4 and 225

Polk is 6'1 and 203. So yea.. He's smaller.. Plenty of 6'1 and shorter receivers with good to great careers in the NFL.
There is no substantial evidence to support any expectation that Polk will be one of them.

Looking at how our QBs are playing we might be better off dumping off to our run in backs and letting the tackles and full ack do the grunt work .

So we need 4 running backs and 1 full back.

Polk will not be claimed . So it should be easy to cut him and bring back on PS. Other teams have better wide receivers than our wr 5 or 6. So I think we should be able to get back both baker and Polk if cut. Chism on other hand has intangible of separation which not many have . He might be swooped up on. I wouldn't release him.

Why bring Polk back on the PS?

Why not pick up some other castoff that might make something of himself? Polk has had the chance to do that and hasn’t.

I really don’t get the hate of Marcus. He’s a fine slot CB who can play outside in a pinch. We’re going to need a lot of good CB depth and he is good CB depth.
I don’t hate Marcus. I hate that he’s short.

Being short for a CB is more of a liability than short arms are for an OL. But you don’t hear the same fuss about it. Why not?

At least we drafted him and he has seen some semblance of our routines. Probability of him coming good higher than other castoffs.and besides being a second rounder more fire in belly .

Marcus Jones stuck to his man like white on rice last year. One of the best slot corners in the entire league. Not sure what we're saying here.

yes, being short is a liability for a nickel back and even more so for an outside corner

Marcus Jones has overcome this liability and is a quality starting NB and OK backup outside CB.

That’s a controversial opinion with no objective evidence supporting it.

Others might argue all available evidence supports the contrary opinion.

We play the Commanders in Week 2 at home. I hope we can win that game.

If you were playing their backups, you wouldn't have a problem.

Not to take anything away from what was a really promising performance from the Patriots, the two teams are in very different situations. Washington put things together last season, the Patriots didn't, so this was a first progress report on a drastic rebuild -- not just the personnel but, even more, the coaching and strategy.

The Patriots had much more at stake.

I don't specifically know the statistics off hand but given what we learned about short arms/wingspan this draft cycle I am highly skeptical that the stats would back up your claim.

That’s exactly what I thought. He isn’t good enough at other things to compensate for the height.

He’s a gadget player at heart and if he isn’t being used for it, he’s just an undersized DB that will be targeted by a QB.

They measure arm length for a reason, do they not? I’ll defer to the experts.

It doesn’t necessarily mean it will doom him as a tackle but it wouldn’t be talked about if it was complete fiction as you are making out to be.

what I said was that anyone who could tell the difference in Campbell’s play because of 1/3 of an inch in arm length is making **** up, and I stand by that. None of Tom Brady’s metrics, other than height, measured up to NFL QB standards, yet somehow he managed to become a pretty good QB.

Anyone who really believes a 1/3 of an inch is really important has some real insecurities they should deal with. And I think that supplements like Mars for Men are taking advantage of those insecurities to make billions.

I think because he's CB3? If he were one of our two outside CBs, I think there'd be more concern. And who knows, Austin and James might soon be over him on the depth chart. But used right, Marcus is an okay piece in the defense.
