After today I think the Chiefs and Bengals are the most trustworthy complete teams to compete in the playoffs.
It sounds crazy, but Burrows has really emerged this year. Their offense can really be potent.
Bills and Titans are more like heavyweight punchers who will hang around and battle, but I don't think they could win a SB, they're just not explosive enough and we've seen them lay eggs - like against us! Also, the Pats are not able to hang with KC & CIN yet. I'm not saying we couldn't get to the AFCCG - but no further. If it plays out most likely, we could go to BUF then TEN - and we could win those if all goes perfectly right. Then go to KC for the AFCCG - and I doubt we'd have a chance.

pats can make a run from this spot

In this scenario, Patriots win 1st round
Bills and chiefs win only have to beat Tennessee to be in afccg.
If bills or chiefs lose (certainly possible) it could set up an AFCCG in Foxboro vs LA or Indy. Not at all crazy either of them could knock off Tennessee.
The 1 seed may be the worst team in the afc playoffs.

If BillB willing to spend 12m+ per year (each) for Jonnu, Hunter, Nelson, he can certainly spend 17m per year for a young CB that is a known quantity and will only get better (aka: he is no fluke).

IMO
All things being equal, but they aren't. Bill had a huge pile of cap to spend last season. Now there are a lot of big contracts and a lot of vets moving on. We'll see what priority JC gets, but IMO he's gonna be too rich for our blood. We'll see more opportunistic signings like the Philips extension we just had this week.

I was just thinking similar. Tennessee isn't very scary. On one hand, if neither other wild card team wins then the Pats get to face Tennessee in in the second round as the lowest seed. On the other hand, if another wild card wins and the Pats have to face the Bills or Chiefs, and they win in round 2 and the other wild card team knocks off Tennessee, then yeah you're looking at the AFCCG in Foxboro.

I am shocked by this....SHOCKED.

From Adrian Phillips during his post-game presser.

“I talked about this before, but from the outside in you kind of get this stigma about Foxborough, like there’s no fun here, blah blah blah, whatever it is,” Phillips said. “Then you get here, and you see like, ‘Ah, it ain’t like that at all.’ It’s really just hard work. You do your job, you win games, you have fun going to the postseason. …

Players have fun here?

talib said something along the lines of if you follow three rules, you will do just fine in foxboro.

1.) don’t be late
2.) know your stuff
3.) don’t talk to the media

I think Tennessee will have Henry back for the playoffs, right ? That makes them a scary team. I still think KC & Buffalo are the best teams in the AFC. If the Pats beat Miami to finish 11-6, and somehow win a playoff game, they could be a scary team to face in the next round.

The amazing thing to me is, I think the NFL underrates the Pat’s offense. The highest scoring team in the AFC, has only scored 18 points more than the Pats.

when we are playing well, we are the team no one wants to face.

Chiefs just lost two OL. Check the tape from last year's SB.

Even as a massive Pats homer, they ran up the score on weak teams as a method to get additional reps for their rookie QB hence a higher PPG average than they probably really are. The question is can that diversity building approach pay dividends against the better competition?

As I said before the game today - it all depends on the OL. OL plays well, the Pats tend to play well.

Also...

Next week's approach will be a massive indicator. This does not seem to be a squad that can "take a week off" and turn the intensity and focus back on. The last game needs to prepared for and played like it too is required to get into the tournament regardless.

I am thinking nobody would want to face us. We are like a rogue underdog team which can play any way we want on that day as everybody expects us to fold in the first playoff game.

With a Rookie and a new star cast we can be insanely creative. My guess is we will not be the bend don't break defense for playoffs and might be doing more blitzes and try to force off passes and get more interceptions.

As for teams which plan to blitz and pressure Mac more, the postseason is going to be dominated by Jonnu and Bolden . You heard it here first .

My guess is there are going to be exotic Mac packages in post season that nobody has seen. Next game against Miami should also be fun. They can try some new looks and deep passes on Miami and see how it goes. If we can beat Miami secondary then we should be able to beat anybody else .

Let's go Pats.

What we will see in the playoffs is teams stacking the line making it difficult to run and forcing mac to throw over coverage. We have receivers to get over the top but depends on protection. I expect to see 7-8 guys in the box and alot of press coverage

You think theyre holding the playbook back and are going to introduce new things they've never used?
