Myles Garrett is a BEAST. I was feeling the pain he was in today. An amazing player.
And he did all that hurt.

I still remember the clip from his pro day where BB was leading the drills and basically told him how he was disappointed that he had no way of being in position to draft him.

Before people run Mac out of town on a rail, I want them to think about the Chargers giving up on Drew Brees too quickly in favor of a pouter. Bailey ain't no pouter. I want to see this competition play out. I don't care if they're both on the roster for the next 3 years.

Last year the main criticism of Mac was that he so often was taking the checkdown when the long ball was there to be had. I think the coaching this year tried to get him to not go away from the long ball. Mac's trying too hard to give the coaches what they want and not playing naturally. He needs to ease up on himself.

That being said, Zappe is fun and you've got to go with the hot hand.

my final point on zappe vs Mac is this?

Bill is the guy who sat the veteran pro bowl $200m QB for a 6th rounder.

Bill doesn’t give a **** about feelings - the only time I ever remember him guaranteeing a start was when Jimmy G took the first 4 games in 2016 for brady who at that time was widely considered the best of all time.

I just cannot imagine Bill caring about feelings here - Mac threw 5 interceptions in 3 games. Zappe has turned the ball over once.

Regardless this team has some real spice - I love it

I was disappointed with Jones before his injury. I expected better after what he showed last year. He didn’t deliver it. I’m still hopeful he will recover and get back on track. But I don’t see anything that makes him head and shoulders above Zappe. What specifically do you see as strengths that set him apart?

I still think he is smarter (in a football sense) and more accurate. Zappe is more athletic and a stronger arm. I still think Jones is better. The offense was a mess the first three games.

I think Jones going down was the best thing for Patricia. I think Patricia has become a much better offensive coordinator because he isn't asking the QB to huck the ball down the field and be overly aggressive. He is learning to be more strategic and have more precision in his plays. With Jones he was having him huck up 50-50 balls. Now he is being more conservative.

And linemen are blocking better and receiver are getting open since Jones went down. The question is whether they have turned the corner or they are facing bad defenses.

Mac needs to be given another chance. The line is playing much better with more continuity even tho Wynn still sucks. Play calling has been a lot more better as well.

Jones won a National Championship with Alabama (unbeaten season). Zappe played for Houston Baptist and Western Kentucky. On paper Jones should be a level above BUT on grass (or field turf) they seem much closer than you would expect. There have been QBs from small schools do well in the NFL but a late pick and a small school is probably less common. A great pick, no matter how it plays out.

I don't know if they are as close as you think. At least not yet. Let's see Zappe face a good defense first. He may not because the Bears are not a good defense and Jones could be back.

I'm sure the counterpoint is "first time in history the stars aligned and a rookie QB plays the Lions and Browns in his first two starts".

This assumes that every other player who has been in this situation (which is a massive list of players - every rookie QB since the Super Bowl era) has played strong defenses. You play who’s on the schedule.

Zappe has been damn impressive.

You have Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Carolina. How ironic would it be if it was Tampa Bay???

You got Indy too since they seem to refuse to draft a QB of the future. But it would be funny if Zappe or Mac ended up in Tampa.

He was pressured a lot today. Handled it well enough you didn’t even notice.
I really like how elusive zappe seems to be compared to Mac. That first pressure where he had to roll out, it looks like he stiff armed his rusher to the ground.

The line was playing fine with Jones. When they get hats on hats they hold up well. Sometimes they have communication breakdowns or mental mistakes, and that hasn’t disappeared under Zappe - that’s been the case all season regardless of the QB.

Zappe simply has demonstrated superior pocket presence than Jones this season, as a matter of fact.
