Agreed. The OL failures are on Bill, BOB and Adrian Klemm, but mostly on Bill because several OLmen are nowhere near league average players. Why did he assemble a ****show in front of a QB who can‘t create plays, who needs a good supporting cast to thrive?
When another QB not named Wac Jones gets a chance back there you'll see that our guys are not that bad. It's because he doesn't have a playmaking bone in his body he makes them look bad Mac is like gangrene as a player.

this sack was completely on Mac having mental meltdowns again

If you do a normal 3-5 yard dropback in this situation, you could have stepped up in the pocket to avoid the rush and buy yourself some time.
Instead mac goes so far behind that he can't step up in the pocket. Watch the clip, there was plenty of room to step up
Don't argue with him about Mac he's clueless.

We do indeed need to move on.

HOWEVER, we took a shot on Mac Jones being the next Herbert, at least a top 10 QB. If that worked out, the results might be very, very different. It is easy to blame everyone.

Consider that the different in drafting capitol between the best and worst team is exactly ONE pick, a very high one, but one pick.

Let's say we get the 3rd pick in the draft.
Compare those resources to the SB winner,

picking 3rd 3, 35, 67, 99, 131, 163
picking 32nd x, 32, 64, 96, 128, 160

The difference is ONE draft choice. We get that #3 pick and then pick 3 picks AFTER the SB winner after that pick.
==================
Yes, a top 5 pick COULD make all the difference. Or not.
Finally someone sees the draft the same way as I do. I've been trying to explain that about the draft for years here. I even made a post similar to yours a few days ago around here somewhere. The value of a higher pick isn't anywhere near as good as some folks make it out to be.

Bill will probably trade it away and draft a center or a ST player in the 1st round
That reminds me. I wonder how those players are doing on the Jets and Steelers that were picked after the Pats traded down. That was a hot topic on draft day.

We want BB NOWHERE NEAR THE DRAFT PROCESS. Let somebody else shop for the groceries and him Coach them. BB SHOULD HAVE NO INPUT ON THE DRAFT WHATSOEVER!

Agreed, and if Bill goes 1-16 he'll beat MacPherson`s record...not Shula's
Actually, at the rate Bill's going now he'll have to coach into his 80's to reach Shula*

This is why, if the Pats are going to do it they need a clean break right now. They're better off doing it too early than too late, just as Bill would do with some players.

The worst part of this fiasco is if the Pats had any offense they might have been able to make a run in the AFC this year, even with the toughest schedule in the NYFL. All of the AFC teams look vulnerable compared to other seasons, though KC has an incredibly easy schedule.

vs the Alternative Mac??

I hope he takes his outdated philosophy with him to his next Team.

Sad to say that Mac has the yips and looks lost - not surprising maybe after the cluster**** that was Patricia/Judge (which is 100% on BB). However, it is what it is. On top of that Zappe isn't an NFL QB, or anywhere near. Laugh if you want but I'd be getting Will Grier ready for the Raiders. If we're in full on "tank/nothing to lose" mode then let's see if Grier can at least get us a field goal or two.

As for BB, I'm a huge homer/In BB we trust kinda guy, but the party is over. The NFL is leaving the Pats behind and we need to make a change before it's too late. At the moment it already feels like 3-4 years before we're remotely competitive again. All legendary coaches have their expiry date, BB is no different.

vs the Alternative Mac??
Kyler Murray is a mediocre QB who's going to make $37 million in SALARY next year (and it gets worse after that). Trade for Daniel Jones, if you want years and years of hot garbage.

They're going to get a very high pick next year. Draft and pray.

Unless a TOP QB comes available, or someone like Herbert, who's really good but not quite there, you can't just jump and PAY. But that scenario's unlikely and risky.

Like it or not, in today's QB-is-99% NFL, which is very different than15 years ago, you have to draft and develop, rinse and repeat, until you get lucky.

Draft a top QB prospect, surround him with talent via FA and trades, and for crissakes, get an innovative OC. I watched the Niners (my second team) yesterday and the announcers were raving about the play design. The second TD to Kittle was an absolute thing of beauty. And I'm not talking Josh playground flea flicker designs. I'm talking honest, put-it-in-your playbook deception.

It is when you need a QB or a true blue-chip prospect. Particularly a QB.
And for those teams that sit there multiple years and have filled the QB/WR1-type slots, those top-end first rounders can bring back big returns in trades. Trade a #2 for #4 and say 15 and you can get a couple of blue-chippers.

Because really, once you get below the top 10-15 players, it's usually a crap shoot.

I think the Hogs upfront want a winner and not a loser under Center. I think this Team does a 180 with Zappe. Mac cannot be redeemed the Fans won't miss him or BB. It's time for both of them to go.
I think this team does a 360 with Zappe. He hasn't look any better than Mac and he is getting opportunities. Both Qbs are missing wide open WR at times.
